Everyone at North Wales Crusaders is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Sir Billy Boston, aged 92.

Sir Billy was more than a Rugby League legend. He was a Welsh sporting icon, a trailblazer and an inspiration to generations who followed him.

From Cardiff to the very pinnacle of Rugby League, Sir Billy’s achievements transcended club loyalties. He represented his country with immense pride and became one of the greatest players our sport has ever seen.

His contribution to Rugby League, to Wales and to British sport will never be forgotten. The recognition he received during his lifetime was richly deserved, but his greatest legacy will be the doors he opened and the generations he inspired.

For everyone involved in Rugby League in Wales, today we mourn one of our own.

The thoughts and condolences of everyone at North Wales Crusaders are with Sir Billy’s family, friends, former teammates and everyone at Wigan Warriors at this incredibly sad time.

A giant of our game. A proud Welshman. A Rugby League immortal.

Rest in peace, Sir Billy. 🏉❤️
