The strong and brave Baloch women are making history. Once again, today, hundreds of women participated in a mass demonstration in the Wadh area of Balochistan. Wadh, for a long, has endured the wrath of terror, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and forced displacement.
The ongoing movement against the Baloch genocide has ended the fear among people. The resilient Baloch women have shattered the shackles of fear. Now, people from across Balochistan, including Wadh, are taking to the streets to protest the injustices inflicted upon the Baloch by state-backed powerful forces and death squads. These forces have engaged in the disappearance, torture, killing, and even dumping of Baloch in mass graves. The women are standing against it bravely now and have transformed this movement into a full-fledged uprising.

On Monday, January 15, we met with Ms. Mio Sato, the former Chief Mission of the United Nations Mission to Pakistan, who is also the Chief Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Pakistan, Mr. Shah Nasir Khan, the UN's Resident Coordinator officer, and Dr. Mariam Shaikh, a communications advisor in the UN. We informed them about the ongoing human rights abuses in Balochistan, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, crackdowns on peaceful marchers advocating for Baloch rights across the country, and threats to protest sit-in participants. They assured us of their support and mentioned that the case would be forwarded to the relevant section of the UN.
