The return of cicadas to Mahatma Gandhi Park, Manikonda in good numbers is a strong sign of ecological recovery and improving biodiversity.
Their long calls are more than just noise they reflect the presence of healthier trees, better soil conditions, and a more natural urban habitat.
Cicadas remind us that when ecosystems begin to heal, even the smallest species become powerful indicators of change. #SaveMGPark @CMC_Offcl@MC_Cyberabad@ZC_SLP@DCNarsingi@jayesh_ranjan@TSBiodiversity@MyManikonda_@Walk4Health@vchangeu@Comm_HYDRAA
In-spite of repeated requests and clear evidence of rule violations at MG Park, Manikonda municipal officials continue to remain helpless, hopeless, and indifferent to the rampant misuse of public space. Organizers recently allowed to burn large quantities of wood for cooking over 12 hours inside the park, leading to severe smoke pollution, and have irresponsibly allowed to wash used utensils in the park, leaving behind foul smells that make the environment unbearable for regular walkers.
It is unacceptable that even after four days, sanitation has not been addressed and the organizers, who are freely collecting "donations" in the park, are allowed to profit while ignoring basic civic duties. Such ongoing neglect not only disrupts community health and well-being but also erodes public trust in local governance. Immediate and firm action is required from Manikonda Municipality to enforce park rules, penalize violators, and restore the park for the benefit of all residents.

Heartiest congratulations on your well-deserved promotion to Director General of Police. This recognition truly reflects your leadership, dedication, and service. Hyderabad is fortunate to continue having you as Commissioner, and we are confident your new role will bring even greater impact. Wishing you continued strength and success in this important responsibility.
The unauthorised shed in Mahatma Gandhi Park, Manikonda was demolished by @CMC_Offcl@DCNarsingi@ZC_SLP officials on 11th April, 2026, it got rebuild again without any permission. This is a clear encroachment of public park land and a violation of civic rules. We request immediate action to protect the park and prevent further misuse.
@MC_Cyberabad@Comm_HYDRAA@CPHydCity
Despite prior reporting of the reconstruction activity, no effective action has been taken. This silence and inaction only strengthens the impression that officials are choosing to look the other way under pressure from a political lobby. If such violations are ignored even after being brought to notice in advance, it sends a very dangerous message that public park encroachments can continue unchecked.
The authorities must not play blindfolded to this illegal activity. Immediate action is required now, otherwise, responsibility for allowing this encroachment to continue will rest with those who failed to act despite clear prior information and reporting.
Multiple violations are taking place in Mahatma Gandhi Park in Manikonda, as the reconstruction of the illegal and unauthorized shed is being carried out during peak park hours, while children are playing nearby and senior citizens are seated close to the construction area. This clearly shows that the lobby is more focused on rebuilding the demolished shed than respecting public safety or the well-being of park users.
What was the urgency to permit such activity during park hours? Has any official from @CMC_Offcl@DCNarsingi given free access to the culprits to rebuild the shed again inside the park? This raises serious concerns about accountability, public safety, and the blatant misuse of a public space. The shed was demolished by Municipal officials on 25th July, 2025 and again on 11th April, 2026 yet the unauthorized saga continues! Why is UBD wing not acting on it.

Cooking massive meals with open wood fires in Mahatma Gandhi Park, Manikonda turning our biodiversity hot spot into a barren event ground. With @CMC_Offcl own support hoardings up, this ecosystem destruction demands immediate action from the Urban Biodiversity Wing @DCNarsingi These are happening via oral nods by officials, political lobbying, and influence to protect personal pride, not civic or ecological interest. This must stop for true park protection let's protect our green lungs before they're just a memory!
@MC_Cyberabad We request @CMC_Offcl to:
* Take strict disciplinary action against the organizers,
* Impose hefty fines to recover the cost of ecological and infrastructural damage, and
* Clearly ban any future events, commercial collection, or unauthorized activities inside the park.

Absolutely right! Cooking massive meals with open wood fires in MG Park will release toxic smoke, kill soil microbes, and scorch tree roots turning our biodiversity hot spot into a barren event ground. With @CMC_Offcl own 'support' hoardings up, this ecosystem destruction demands immediate action from the Urban Biodiversity Wing. It is deeply distressing to witness the continued misuse of Mahatma Gandhi Park in Manikonda, for private, commercial, and caste based events, despite multiple written and verbal appeals made to the Municipal Commissioner and other officials of Manikonda.
Private associations are repeatedly conducting exclusive events, collecting money from attendees, and using the park as a commercial and community platform for their association benefits beyond its lawful purpose.
The aftermath of these events leaves the park littered with garbage, damaged flora, sound pollution and polluted air, severely compromising the eco-balance and biodiversity that the park once proudly sustained. Mahatma Gandhi Park is home to over 50 bird species and numerous micro-ecosystems, all of which are suffering due to unchecked human interference.

I understand your concerns about the maintenance and the different scale compared to places like KBR Park. However, based on my own experience over the past three years, I have recorded more than 58 species of birds, over 36 species of insects, and a diverse range of flora and fauna in Mahatma Gandhi Park. It’s clearly an ecological space that supports wildlife if given a chance.
This park offers more than just a venue for events; it provides a vital habitat for nature and a peaceful environment for activities. Few people care only for free food and entertainment overlooks the genuine community and environmental value parks hold. Rather than encouraging disruptive events, we should focus on protecting and nurturing these green spaces for the benefit of all. More info Check https://t.co/XXiWCLqfPT

Ah yes, a multi purpose park where every inch doubles as a community hall, speaker’s podium, and garbage dump why stop at events when we can have a full-time carnival? And of course, those who want to actually use the park for walking, bird-watching, yoga or fresh air are just out of luck. Perfect solution for the enjoyers less park, more party! @ManikondaMc will give even full time permissions for 365 Days....
