A family bringing people together from all walks of life to fight for racial equity through the arts, health, and wellness. #breathegood#filmingwhileblack
Last week, as a part of our 2nd District Racial Justice Learning Exchange, we hosted a screening of the documentary “A Time to Yell – More than a Statue,” which explores the untold story of the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. The film provides historical context and insight behind one of the most divisive events in recent American history.
Our dynamic panel reflected on the lessons learned from the hard-won fight to remove a Confederate statue and what replacing racist symbols can look like for furthering shared values of equity, inclusion, and progress. Another theme we discussed was the reclaiming of public spaces and our well-being through collective action – seen in Charlottesville with Prolyfyk Run Crew and in Los Angeles with @walkgoodla.
Thank you to our guest speakers: former Charlottesville Vice Mayor Dr. Wes Bellamy, Charlottesville Activist and Co-Founder of Prolyfyk Run Crew, Will Jones III, and Etienne Maurice, Co-Founder of WalkGoodLA.

Today I got my day started with some yoga in the park hosted by @walkgoodla. A group of Black people focused on wellness and gratitude for this life. It was a beautiful sight.
Join us Sunday at the West LA Civic Center for art, music, food, yoga, kid's activities and conversation about the future of our neighborhoods. Stop by the LCI booth and say hello!
