Wemyss Bay Train Station, Inverclyde, Scotland π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
Built in 1903 right on the Firth of Clyde, the Wemyss Bay Train Station has a beautiful and scenic feel with the stunning Victorian building and huge glass roof that floods the whole place with light. The old ironwork that sits overhead and the platform views over the water make it stand out straight away.
It won the UK's Best Loved Station award back in 2023 and just picked up Small Station of the Year at the 2024 National Rail Awards. You can see exactly why once you're there - it's got real character and a lovely welcoming atmosphere.
The station sits next to the ferry terminal for the Isle of Bute, so you get the trains and boats all in one spot with brilliant views across the firth. It's easy to stop off and have a wander or just sit and take in the scenery in one of Scotlands most beautiful train stations.
ππ We're off to the races!
ScotRail is providing extra seats between Glasgow Central and Ayr on 17-18 April so horse racing fans travelling to The Coral Scottish Grand National Festival can get to all the action.

Watched the take off & landing, the footage of the door opening was drone footage from high up in air. Its mind- blowing how a door can be so protective! How it withstands heat, gravity & a splash landing! Well done all involved. Love thisπ#WalkMatch#OutOfSpace#Adventures
"Welcome home!": New footage shows a recovery team reaching the Artemis II crew and opening the door after they splashed down off the coast of California on Friday, marking the end of their historic moon mission. Cheers followed as soon as the astronauts appeared to be OK.
The astronauts were met with a NASA and a U.S. military team that assisted them out of the spacecraft in open water and transported them via helicopter to the USS John P. Murtha for medical checks.
The oldest roads ever found on earth are British. π¬π§
Rome gets the credit for roads.
But Britain had roads before Egypt had pyramids.π¬π§
In 1970, a man named Ray Sweet was cutting peat in the Somerset Levels.
His spade hit wood.
Oak planks. Laid end to end across the marsh.
He'd just found the oldest road on earth.
Archaeologists dated the timber precisely β matching the growth rings against thousands of years of climate records.
3807 BC.
Nearly six thousand years old.
Beside it, buried in the same peat, they found a jade axe.
Not from Somerset. Not even from Britain.
From the Alps.
These people were trading across Europe six thousand years ago.
For decades, the Sweet Track was known as the oldest road ever found.
Then in 2009, archaeologists were digging next to Belmarsh Prison in London.
Four and a half metres underground.
They found timber.
Another road. Built in 4100 BC.
Three hundred years older still.
The pyramids weren't built until 2560 BC.
Britain's roads are older by more than a thousand years.
Our people. π¬π§
Who looked at the problem.
And solved it.
Six thousand years ago.
Did they teach you that?
Together we keep our history alive. π¬π§ https://t.co/rih7iKwnvf

Three years ago, we were preparing to welcome the first visitors to @VisitDundreggan. Since then, over 120,000 people have come through our doors! π
We know that people are more likely to protect and restore #nature when they can experience, understand, and connect deeply with it, and that nature should be accessible to everyone. π³
Our centre creates space to learn, share knowledge, and experience #rewilding in action, while also connecting with rich #Gaelic culture and heritage.
Set within our 10,000-acre estate home to over 4,000 species of plants and animals, the worldβs first rewilding centre continues to grow as a hub for people and nature, and we look forward to welcoming many more of you in the years ahead.
