GLOBAL SYMBOL DECODING CHALLENGE

This grave monument belonged to a high-ranking member of the Episcopal Church in New York.

And yet the monument itself feels almost impossible to fully decode.

Visible motifs include:

✋ The Hand of God
🕊️ a descending winged figure
🐑 the Lamb
⚖️ scales of judgment
🗡️ a central sword or cross
☀️ sun face
🌙 moon face
🛡️ heraldic shields
🐟 fish-like emblems
🏺 ritual vessels
⚒️ tools or weapons
⭕ chains of circular sigils
The entire structure appears deliberately organized as a unified symbolic program — almost like a theological diagram, funerary code, or ritual cosmology carved in stone.
Some imagery is recognizably Christian.
Other elements feel:
• Anglo-Catholic
• mystical
• esoteric
• symbolist
• possibly connected to older symbolic traditions now largely forgotten
What makes this even stranger is that the monument is not medieval.
It stands in New York.
So here is the challenge:
Can historians, theologians, iconographers, heraldry experts, Freemasonry researchers, medievalists, cemetery historians, or specialists in religious symbolism identify EVERY emblem and explain the monument’s overall meaning?
Because the deeper I examine it, the less it resembles an ordinary grave marker.
