Mikael Ishak’s career in the Ekstraklasa is nothing short of legendary. A Swedish-born forward with Syrian roots, Ishak doesn’t just play in Poland. He dominates it. He has captained Lech Poznań. He became the club’s all-time top foreign goal scorer. He has led them to league titles, European campaigns, and broke records along the way. And now, Hussein Ali begins his journey. Also born in Sweden, also proud of his Middle Eastern heritage, Ali comes to Ekstraklasa with talent, ambition, and a hunger to prove himself. At young age of 23, he has already represented Sweden at all youth international levels and now chosen to play for his parent’s Iraqi national team. He’s taken bold steps. He’s not looking for handouts. He’s ready to fight for his place. And like Ishak, he will prove himself on the pitch, where it actually matters.

Let’s be honest. The only thing that matters in football is performance. Your last name, your skin color, your religion, your country of origin, none of it should define you. It is absurd and embarrassing that in 2025, some people still judge a player before he’s touched the ball simply because of where his parents come from or what his name sounds like. We praise Mo Salah not for being Egyptian or Muslim but because he scores goals, plays with heart, and lifts his team. Lamine Yamal is loved for his brilliance, not his background. Mikael Ishak earned respect through goals and grit, not by being Swedish enough or Syrian parents. And Hussein Ali deserves exactly the same chance.

If you call yourself a real football fan, judge players the right way. Respect effort. Respect talent. And save your hate and ignorance for something else.
