Welcome to the #WalktoEndALS Toronto Downtown! This year's goal is $150,000. The walk will be on June 12. Please note that this is a volunteer-run account.
Our #WalktoEndALS yesterday couldn’t have been such a success without our local sponsors! Thank you so much to everyone who have donated.
We have raised $120k and counting!

The Downtown Toronto #WalktoEndALS is TOMORROW!
Blenda, from Fitness on the Go, will be leading our warm-up. They have graciously offered a $100 Fitness on the Go gift card to every participant tomorrow!
Meet Mashiat Khan!
Mashiat Khan just finished her MSc and is continuing as a research technologist in the Park Lab at the Hospital for Sick Children. Her project focuses on the ALS-linked protein, Matrin-3, and its role in cryptic splicing.
She is investigating how MATR3 splicing function is impaired by ALS-linked variants, and the splicing events that are dysregulated in disease. She hopes to determine the molecular mechanisms underlying ALS.
If you are attending the walk, you will be able to grab the gift cards when you check-in at registration.
If you can’t pick them up on Sunday, ALS Canada can mail them next week!

Meet Paula!
Paula is the Respiratory Therapist at Sunnybrook’s ALS clinic. Paula works with patients and families to ensure their respiratory care needs are met and that they are comfortable with their respiratory equipment. Paula appreciates the work ALS Canada…
community leads do in alerting her to any concerning respiratory changes in patients between appointments. Getting a “heads up” from our friends at ALS Canada provides an opportunity to prepare for the next visit and to follow up sooner.
Today we're highlighting the Team Hudson's Homies for HOPE!
9-year-old Hudson started the team for his father, Mattie, who was diagnosed with ALS this year. Here's what Clare, Mattie's wife, has to say:
Acronymes - They convey a lot, in quick shorthand. They can help you remember
belief in what’s possible and how truly important holding onto HOPE is. We are blown away.
The money raised through this walk will assist families like mine, who need community based support and increased funding for research to make ALS something people can live with.
