We are launching a global real-time phishing defense network alongside @MetaMask, @WalletConnect, @Backpack, and @phantom! This allows us to create a decentralized immune system for crypto security where anyone from around the world can prevent the next major phishing attack
As a MetaMask user, you do not need to be scared of the supply chain attack that took place earlier today.
MetaMask has multiple layers of defense to protect our products and users:
- Basic Security: We lock our versions, don't push directly to main, have manual and automated checks during the entire development lifecycle, and have robust release processes and monitored rollouts.
- LavaMoat: Prevents malicious code from harming you, even if malicious code was to somehow sneak in. LavaMoat covers both the development lifecycle and runtime scenarios.
- Blockaid: Flags malicious addresses nearly instantaneously, protecting you from compromised dapps.
Security is paramount for MetaMask. We work tirelessly to protect you from attacks and threats, including supply chain attacks.
🧡
PSA: If you hold crypto, maybe chill out on transacting for today as its possible some of your fav dApps may have been compromised by the NPM Supply chain attack. If you're a dev see the next post in the thread. Just noting that the attacker's addresses should be flagged on MM.
Always double check links. Now with @wallet_guard integrated, @MetaMask will display a checkmark icon when interacting with verified dapps - including $LINEA
How to Properly Connect Ledger to MetaMask
Many people connect their @Ledger to @MetaMask, but it's extremely important to do it safely. If you input your Ledger's private key or seed phrase into MetaMask, you effectively convert your hardware/cold wallet into a soft/hot wallet, putting your entire hardware wallet at risk.
To properly connect your Ledger to MetaMask:
Click on Your Account > select the dropdown menu > click "Add account or Hardware Wallet" > select "Hardware Wallet" > choose your type of Hardware wallet > confirm on your physical hardware wallet > select the address you use from the list (typically the first address). This now allows you to use a Ledger via MetaMask, but be safe in doing so!
Stay Safe & Stay Vigilant
🚨 It looks like the CoinMarketCap site is prompting users to "Verify Your Wallet" upon visiting the site.
Exercise extreme caution.
These types of wallet "verifications" are essentially always scams / drainers.

🧠 CVE-2025-24252 and CVE-2025-24132
These two make it wormable — one device gets compromised, and the infection can spread like wildfire.
📡 Third-party speakers & devices using AirPlay SDK are also vulnerable.
➡️ Even if you don't use AirPlay, you're exposed.

An attacker can take over your Mac, speaker, or even your CarPlay—just by being on the same WiFi.
They can:
• Drop malware
• Execute remote code
• Use your device to spread across networks
