So proud of @LabRaghavan for winning the Rita Schaffer Award! What a great recognition of your excellent science, mentorship of budding researchers, and contributions to the BME community!
Check out our latest paper by @bmentamu graduate students Blanche ter Hofstede and Linghao Hu! We compare phasor analysis and exponential curve fitting of lifetime data as input features for machine learning models to predict cell phenotypes. https://t.co/d0MdQ1MzYv
Congrats to @bmentamu graduate student Linghao Hu for successfully passing his PhD final exam! ๐๐ His research to combine machine learning with fluorescence lifetime imaging to predict cell metabolism is truly exciting as it will provide more specificity to label free imaging.
Congrats to all the 2023 @bmentamu graduates, especially lab members Oscar (PhD) and Sam (BS). We enjoyed celebrating with yummy treats at our group meeting on Monday! ๐ช๐ง๐๐
My family was honored to accept the Distinguished Academy of Biomedical Engineering Award from @UTBiomedical on behalf of my late grandfather, AJ Welch. He was a true pioneer in #BiomedicalEngineering and #BiomedicalOptics. His legacy lives on in the work of so many today.
We just got back from Optica: Biophotonics Congress where @bmentamu graduate student @jmart443 gave a conference talk on the effects of short pulses of infrared light on metabolic reaction rates. We had a great time at the meeting, feeling inspired and motivated!
Congrats to @bmentamu graduate students Nianchao Wang and Linghao Hu on our paper that presents a new method to evaluate image segmentation results, published in PlosOne https://t.co/XEv4YoTr4P
It is a double paper week! Congrats @bmentamu grad Oscar Benavides on his publication out now in @PLOSONE showing how to use optical imaging and volumetric image analysis to enumerate cells cultured on microcarriers. https://t.co/FwTFnEG6lX
#TAMUbme is leading 88 presentations at #BMES2022 this week! Stop by Booth 209 or our reception on 10/13 to learn more about our impressive research efforts and meet the dozens of faculty and students attending. https://t.co/N8DbxsGnos
We're excited to start a new collaboration with @schoeneberglab on 4D imaging! Congrats to all the ABI Scialog winners! Thanks @RCSA1 and @cziscience for supporting early career researchers and ambitious ideas!
RCSA, @cziscience, the Frederick Gardner Cottrell Foundation & Walder Foundation have made #Scialog: Advancing BioImaging awards to 10 multidisciplinary teams of early career researchers working to develop the next generation of imaging technologies. https://t.co/0vpYJvWHBT
BME UNITE #FutureFaculty Seminar starts on August 15! (alternate Mondays 12-1p ET)
We have an amazing line up of #BME postdocs with diverse identities. @LatinXinBME@BlackInBME

JEDI learning belongs in every stage of every curriculum where we move away from the false dichotomization of engineering as hard/soft skills. Incorporating JEDI will create BMEs that recognize institutional challenges that propagate inequity + promote justice. (6/6)
.@WalshLab_TAMU tied the activity to learning outcomes for JEDI knowledge in BME : "demonstrate openness to new perspectives & diverse people", "learn & implement skills for intergroup dialogue" & "recognize and critically reflect upon cultural biases and privileges" (5/6)
