Happy #WorldBakingDay 🎂
This amazing cake was made for us locally by The Dessert Diva last year to celebrate Sir Walter Scott's 250th birthday and the @WalterScott250 project.
It tasted just as good as it looks! 😋
In our latest blog post, Collections and Interpretation Manager, Kirsty Archer- Thompson, tells the story of our statue of Edie Ochiltree, one of Scott’s most beloved literary creations, who greets walkers at the top of our woodland paths.

The fantastic @Clovenstone Primary pupils have been re-imagining the gargoyles on the Scott Monument to celebrate @WalterScott250. We particularly love the relationships between them all - click through images to see Funky Frank and co. #Edinburgh
To celebrate the 250th birthday of famous #Edinburgh writer Sir Walter Scott P7 pupils from @Pirniehallps created these brilliant pencil drawings! We looked at close-up images of the gargoyles and statues on the Scott Monument and pupils drew their own interpretation.
We're delighted that #WalterScott250 will feature in @ASFevents#TartanDay symposium today. With speakers including noted Sir Walter Scott scholar, Prof. Caroline McCracken-Fleisher, University of Wyoming and Giles Ingram, CEO @AbbotsfordScott.

Happy #WorldPoetryDay! ✍️
Did you know Scott's The Lady of the Lake was so popular it brought a huge wave of tourists to Loch Katrine which featured in the poem? Supposedly the number of carriages visiting the area increased over fivefold in a year.
