Ethiopian Christians mass bury their dead.
Apparently this isn’t important enough or doesn’t fit the narrative for Mark Ruffalo and other celebrities to care about. Not important, we need to see more Gaza. Nobody cares about Africa. Not even Pope.
Ethiopia’s Churches renewed urgent calls for the protection of civilians following the killing of more than 60 Orthodox believers in a wave of savage attacks.

At least 15 people, many of them children, died in a series of drone strikes that hit a camp for displaced civilians in Ethiopia's Amhara region, two sources involved in a rescue operation said on Friday. https://t.co/cagDRsjqoL
@AsstSecStateAF@GPEthiopia It’s orchestrated by the regime in power. Survivors, relatives who buried the massacred and doctors who helped the injured are arrested and survivors from a previous similar attack in Wollega Oromo region were killed by drone strikes in their IDP camp 👇🏾

They massacre them and spare no one—not even those seeking refuge in IDP camps. See @dw_amharic’s report on the drone strike targeting displaced civilians. Amharas #OrthodoxChristians in Ethiopia face a pattern of horrific, chains of unabated massacres

News: More than 50 detained after burying victims of deadly attacks on #Orthodox faithful in #Ethiopia’s #Oromia
Addis Abeba — More than 50 residents in #Shirka Woreda, Southeast Zone (formerly #Arsi zone) of #Oromia region, have reportedly been detained after burying victims of recent attacks and assisting the wounded, residents told Addis Standard, raising concerns about a security crackdown in the aftermath of the killings.
The detention followed attacks by armed men in Chole and Birbo kebeles that left at least 48 people dead and more than 31 others injured, according to residents who spoke to Addis Standard. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church’s #Holy_Synod subsequently reported that 60 Orthodox Christians were killed in attacks on 20 and 24 October across two woredas in Arsi Zone.
Attempts by Addis Standard to contact the regional communication bureau for further comment were unsuccessful.

Ethiopian #OrthodoxChristians need a voice. Only this round it got some international news coverage, albeit shallow. It has been going on since @AbiyAhmedAli seized power.

Nine Christians were killed in Jordan and at least 60 more in Ethiopia over the past week. The two separate massacres in the Middle East and Africa underscore the dangers Christians worldwide face because of their faith.
In Jordan, gunmen opened fire on Christian mourners inside a church, killing nine people and wounding around 40 others.
In Ethiopia, attackers went from house to house, killing 60 Christians with guns and knives, destroying their homes.
The attacks come as Christians in the United States and around the world prepare to gather this Sunday for the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, to pray for believers facing persecution because of their faith.

“Ethiopia has been the site of a slow “creeping genocide” against Amhara communities since 2018, with documented killings, hate speech and official silence that meet the Genocide Convention’s requirements of act and special intent.”

@addisstandard reports that those who took part in the burial of Orthodox Christians massacred in Arsi have been arrested by the regime.
They massacre innocent people, then harass, intimidate, detain, and forcibly disappear those who survive–even those who dare to mourn the dead
Surviving witnesses claimed regional authorities collaborated with Islamist militias to carry out the massacre.
Church leaders have repeatedly warned local authorities about armed groups entering the area, but received no serious response.
At least 62 people have been killed after gunmen attacked a community in northeastern Nigeria, the country’s emergency agency said. https://t.co/QGAUvIl7rB
@HouseForeignGOP What does “all parties to the conflict”mean? There is no conflict. There is only targeted massacre. Surviving witnesses claimed regional authorities collaborated with Islamist militias to carry out the massacre.
Ethiopia: At least 47 Ethiopian Christians were killed, and another 18 hospitalized, in coordinated attacks targeting them in the Oromia region.

This is not an isolated incident, but rather part of a pattern of targeted attacks against Ethiopian Christians, who militants conflate with Amhara ethnicity.
This fusion of religious and ethnic violence against innocent Christians and their churches must not be tolerated.
We condemn these evil acts and call for the protection of Ethiopia’s Christians.

@BBCWorld Hi @Grok can you compile the list of massacres against Amharas/Christians in Oromo, Benishangul gumuz, and other regions in Ethiopia since @AbiyAhmedAli came to power?
