Big thanks to @Matthew_Winkler for visiting Taipei City Hall yesterday! We had a great chat about how Taipei is changing, all from a data perspective. I shared how we’re working on building a resilient city to tackle climate change and also invited Matthew to join us for the World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City @2025WMG .

Last month, while visiting the U.S. East Coast, I stopped by the Rainbow Room restaurant, where I proposed to my wife. Matthew told me Bloomberg HQ has a more romantic vibe and invited me to visit. Thank you for the kind invitation, Matt—I’ll be sure to visit when I have the opportunity!

1月初めに、日本台湾交流協会の新任代表片山和之さんはご来訪しました。私は歓迎の挨拶をしたとともに、元旦に発生した能登半島地震を受け、被災された方々にお見舞いの気持ちを伝えました。片山代表はそれに対して台湾のみんな様の温かい気持ちに感謝していると述べました。

会談中、様々な話題にも触れ、片山代表はいままで台湾に五回来たことがあって、将来、台湾一周を回わる機会があればいいという台湾生活の話を持ち出したり、一番好きな野球選手は王貞治さんということも明らかにしました。

同じい王さんのファンで会話が弾み、アジア選手権の時、王さんは台北ドームで行われた始球式を参加しに来たことを片山代表に伝えながら、その時、いただいた王さんの直筆サイン入りバットも見せました。

最後、私たちはバットと写真を撮ってこの会談を終えました。片山代表と日本各界の皆様と、これから、スポーツとほかのさまざまな分野で交流を続けることも楽しみにしています。

一月初，我們歡迎了日本臺灣交流協會新任臺北事務所代表片山和之先生的到來。
我首先向他表達了，對1月1日能登半島地震災情的關心與慰問，片山代表則回答日本政府非常感謝臺灣朋友的心意。
交流中，片山代表聊到他過去訪臺的經驗，很希望有機會能徒步環島，也聊到他最喜愛的棒球選手就是王貞治先生。我也向他分享前陣子邀請到王貞治先生在臺北大巨蛋替亞錦賽開球的趣事。
球迷見球迷總是特別愉快，我倆以王貞治親筆簽名球棒合影作為這次交流的結尾，期待未來與片山代表、與日本的朋友們能持續在體育以及各個面向，都能增進交流互動！

Delighted to meet with Dr. Kazuyuki Katayama, the new representative of the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association in Taipei.

During our meeting, I expressed my concern and condolences for the earthquake that struck the Noto Peninsula on January 1st. Mr. Katayama mentioned that the Japanese government truly appreciate the kindness from Taiwan.

In our conversation, Mr. Katayama shared that this is his previous visit experience to Taiwan and expressed his desire to start a round-island trip on foot. We also talked about his favorite baseball player, Mr. Sadaharu Oh. I mentioned our recent invitation to Mr. Oh, who threw the first pitch at the Taipei Dome for the Asian Baseball Championship, creating joyful moments for fans.

As a memorable conclusion to our exchange, we took a photo together with a baseball bat autographed by Mr. Oh. Looking forward to continued interactions with Representative Katayama and our friends from Japan in sports and various other aspects!

I'm happy to receive the new @AusOfficeTPE Representative Mr. Robert Fergusson recently in my office. We discussed our future cooperation in education, industries, Taipei's vision of becoming a "Founder Friendly City" and "AI Driven Smart City", and the 2025 World Masters Games to be held in Taipei.

Representative Fergusson mentioned he fell in love with Taipei's hiking trails during his recent visit to Yangming Mountain. I jokingly suggested that it's a beginner-friendly route and look forward to future climbs together to conquer more peaks.

I am keen to continue our strong ties with Australia and the Australian Office Taipei.

在一年的一開始，我很高興地歡迎澳洲駐臺辦事處新任代表馮國斌的蒞臨！臺灣與澳洲在能源、農貿往來熱絡，臺北也與黃金海岸有著超過40年的姐妹市情誼。

我們聊了臺北的「創業家友善城市」與「人工智慧驅動的智慧城市」願景，聊到雙方在新創、雙語教育、氫能源等合作的可能性。我也藉機宣傳2025雙北世界壯年運動會，希望他能邀集澳洲參賽團隊共襄盛舉。

馮代表說他前幾天在擎天岡，愛上了在臺北爬山，我也打趣說陽明山是新手友善的路線，期待未來相約攀登更多高峰。

今天下午日本能登半島石川縣發生規模7.6強震，我們聽說了有數萬戶停電、甚至有幾戶受困事件，我想向日本的朋友表達我們的關心。

我已請臺北市搜救隊同仁整備待命、保持通訊聯絡暢通，如果災區當地有需要，我們隨時提供協助。

今日午後、日本の石川県能登地方を震源とするマグニチュード7.6の強い地震が発生したことについて、心よりお見舞い申し上げます。今、現地に数万世帯が停電、倒壊した家屋に閉じ込められた方もいらっしゃるなどの情報が相次いでいる。現地の皆様の安全を心よりお祈り申し上げます。

昨夜甘肅強震，已造成至少數百人傷亡、數萬棟房屋倒塌。臺灣位於地震帶，看到相關災情，實在於心不忍。

今天，我已要求臺北市消防局偕同臺北市搜救隊輪值人員(72人及2隻搜救犬)，進行個人裝備、團體裝備、各項生命搜索儀器的整備，若有需要，將立刻集結馳援，搶救當地受困災民。
