Today I visited the beautiful A la Ronde, in Devon. An eccentric house built by feminists in the late 18th century — a symbol of female independence and strength. Inspired by world travel and nature, the interior is cleverly decorated with exotic shells, feathers and curiosities.

Almost finished writing my guide to the Isle of Purbeck and sorting through some pictures we took over at Arne last Autumn. We were treated to the most spectacular rainbow. Arne was the pot of gold.

Finally got around to checking out Swim, the new cafe bar on the beach at Lyme Regis. We loved the Palm Springs vibe! Our own slice of SoCal, here in West Dorset. We appreciated the generous choice of vegan food too.

Forget exotic locations — Dorset’s Isle of Purbeck is one of my favourite places on Earth. I’ll be posting a short guide next week, so if you’re into golden beaches, medieval castle ruins, abandoned villages, turquoise lagoons and quaint seaside towns, you won’t want to miss it!

I love the idea of accommodation being as unique as the destination. Whenever we book a room or apartment for a trip we always make sure it holds a little of the essence and charm of the local area, even if we're on a budget. For that reason, the Pioneertown Motel caught my eye.
