Our welcome session at St Marks Battersea Rise is just about to open, for emergency food & practical support for local people.
People come to our foodbank in some of the hardest of times and we're glad to be able to help, thanks to people's ongoing, generous support 💚
It takes around 5 minutes to apply for this help from @wandbc (prepay fuel and supermarket vouchers) and it makes a big difference if you're facing hardship.
It's a grant not a loan so you don't need to pay it back!

Food politics barely feature in the UK election so far. They should. Food security (national & household) is a prime duty. So is the impact of food on health, economy & enviro. Why no Food Security & Resilience law? This interview I gave is now relevant: https://t.co/AOA5nnRHlT
You might be able to get Personal Independence Payment (PIP) if you need extra help because of an illness, disability or mental health condition.
Our quick video shows you how we can help ⤵️

Permanent free school meals would be very welcome but setting up/embedding baby banks, like food banks, won’t address the root cause of the poverty faced by parents/carers of young children and would further entrench a charitable response #CashFirst https://t.co/HZWFcuaKbU

MY GUT FEELING

I should have posted this a few years ago when I made this documentary! But after a film festival round and many intense hours in the journalism world.. here we are..
A #documentary that brings together experts from the food industry, #farmers, #doctors and #chefs.
Featuring @timspector@DrAseemMalhotra@darinaallen@ValentineWarner@PatrickSFT@JoLewisSA@LauraSandysMP@Food_Foundation@GAPSDiet@StephanieSeneff
@dollytheis
@KimmyPearson
And many more!

Split into three parts:
The first section explores the detrimental effects of industrial farming and pesticides on our gut health and the importance of soil health.
The second section explores what’s really going on in our supermarkets and highlights the negative effects of ultra-processed food on our health. And of course the negative impact of #BigFood.
The final third section asks the questions - what can we do to take back control of our own diets. Looking at the importance of education and the lack of a cooking culture in the UK.
Based on my own personal experience of gut health issues, I have seen an enormous rise of gut problems amongst all age groups. Backed up by science.
Cheap food does not need to be and should not be the unhealthy option. We need to create a system where healthy real food, produced by our British local farmers is the easy, affordable choice! With the right steps and the help of politicians (we can dream) - we can take back control of where our food comes from! But we have to go back to the basics and not let the Big Food companies win!
***Please note that this film was made in 2021, during multiple lockdowns, on an old camera and over zoom. Before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, before the Israel-Palestine conflict and before the cost of living.
