China may have one major advantage over the United States that has nothing to do with military strength:
It gets to stay focused.
Look at what’s happening in Asia right now.
The USS George Washington is leaving the Western Pacific to support operations around Iran, temporarily leaving the region without a deployed U.S. aircraft carrier.
Trump has also ordered the Pentagon to substantially reduce military exercises with South Korea.
Meanwhile, China and Indonesia just agreed to deepen military cooperation, including plans that could eventually see Indonesia produce missiles, rockets and ammunition using Chinese technology.
None of this means the balance of power in Asia is suddenly shifting toward China.
But it exposes a fundamental difference between the two powers.
The U.S. is managing commitments in Europe, the Middle East and Asia simultaneously.
China gets to concentrate overwhelmingly on its own neighborhood.
American power is global.
Chinese power is concentrated.
And in a competition increasingly centered on Asia, that distinction matters.

@jurgen_nauditt Is Wildberries being hit because it supports the military, or because damaging a platform this central to everyday Russian life inflicts maximum economic and psychological pain?
The U.S. is about to have no aircraft carrier in the Western Pacific.
The USS George Washington is leaving Asia to support the war with Iran, temporarily removing one of America’s most visible deterrents from the region as China increases military activity around Taiwan, Japan and the Philippines.
This is the strategic problem facing Washington in one picture:
The U.S. has global commitments. Its military assets are finite.
Every force sent to one theater is a force unavailable somewhere else.

Ukraine just offered Russia a truce in the Black Sea.
Not a ceasefire for the entire war but a deal to stop attacking civilian maritime and export infrastructure.
That distinction matters.
Russia and Ukraine are both major food exporters, and their ports have increasingly become targets.
Sometimes the first limits placed on a war aren’t about ending it. They’re about protecting the systems the rest of the world can’t afford to lose. 🤔

I never thought I would see footage like this in my lifetime! Absolute reminder how powerful the United States of America’s military is. I think a lot of people don’t realize that’s it not even close compared to other countries
