Let’s be clear: the so-called russian Orthodox Church is not a church. It is a state-run intelligence and propaganda network masquerading as religion, fully controlled by the Kremlin.

Many russian “priests” hold dual roles in the clerical and military structures. Patriarch Kirill — the head of this organization — is literally a former KGB agent with the rank of FSB general. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe officially named him an accomplice to Putin’s genocidal war, and he openly calls for a “holy war” against Ukrainians.

And yet this structure still “legally” operates in Ukraine despite the fact that russian clergy have been repeatedly caught spreading propaganda, spying on Ukrainian forces, directing missile strikes, and storing ammunition in monasteries and church basements.

Second, theologically, the russian Orthodox Church functions as a cult. It blesses rockets and fighter jets. It prays for the destruction of Ukraine. It promises soldiers heaven as a reward for genocide. It uses Christian language to sanctify murder — which is why so many theologians rightly call it what it is: a demonic sect.

In practice, this is a “Christian” version of ISIS — preaching hatred, glorifying death, and claiming that only its followers are “true believers.” And one of its main targets in Ukraine is Protestants: although they represent less than 4% of the population, a third of all documented russian war crimes against churches are committed against Protestant communities.

This is not faith. This is not Christianity. This is spiritual terrorism in service of a fascist state.
