@WardPerform has had some impressive stuff come thru their facility: Chase Burns, Maddux Bruns, Beck Way, Jake Madden, Blade Tidwell, Ben Joyce, etc.
Jake Fitzgibbons stuff is as good, if not better. Quietly 1 of the nastiest LHPs in all of college baseball
Distance is a really bad measure of intensity
For intensity, you’re looking to measure the total load on the elbow + how fast it’s applied. Most practical in my experience is ball velo (as velo goes up, total load + how fast it’s applied also goes up)
With distance… (cont)
First college game yesterday and came in the bottom of the 6th to pinch hit down 1. Ended up with a game tying triple and a throwing error to take the lead. Also came into close afterwards and got the W. Baseball is fun
Thru my observations, gyms that are teaching kids how to throw much harder are adopting quicker to the understanding of the importance of throwing strikes faster than US amateur coaches are to the understanding of the importance of throwing much harder to be long-term successful
I think every situation is different… what if the kid threw 84 before the year at the development place? Now he just bought his career an extra 2-3 years to figure out the strikes thing. Figures out the strikes thing and now he’s a draftable arm.
Constrained rehab only continues. Next time I throw will likely be last time I go roll ins only. What funny is the whole point of the experiment is to avoid submax unconstrained throws. So any type of blending work defeats the whole purpose.
‘24 RHP Logan Johnson (@LoJohnson27; @FHSAdmBaseball) gonna be one to watch. Some projection at 5-10, 165-lb and controlled delivery. Long arm action, low 3/4 slot. FB at 84-86 (T2389 rpm) w/ ride & life. SL flashing bite in low 70s. CH at 77-80 w/ arm side action. #NashvilleID23
We start experimenting with bringing slot down and notice a reduction in pain. Also the lower half was cleaning up as we go through pre turns and similar practices. This week Eichler came in gym and proceeded to sit 1 mph above his PR and grab multiple 83s on trackman. 🔥📈

Thread on overcoming TOS diagnosis to throw pain free without a surgery and PRing on the mound after months of movement re-patterning.
