I would argue that a 14 year old kid shouldn't be carrying a 9mm Tarus gun with laser sight first. Second, i find it rather unlikely a store owner would chase down a shopper and shoot them in the back for no reason. Possible but unlikely. This is the breakdown of the jury...
Reported Jury MakeupOne detailed ethnic/gender breakdown shared in post-trial discussions (cited from reporting):
3 Black men
2 Black women
3 White women
2 White men
1 male listed as “unknown”
1 male listed as “other” (some reports reference Latino inclusion)
Jury found him not guilty.
I can understand being upset at the entire event but not just at the store owner. I'd want to look at all contributing factors. Kid out alone with gun. Look at him, his family (aka parents), and why was he out? With the store owner, why did he pursue and eventually shoot?
It is an uncomfortable set of questions that should be asked and answered verses, just a protest and anger. I started put being against the kid, and after reading everything I think both parties are at fault. Sad
