A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law—that's a legal maxim. You cannot keep someone in jail for years without a trial. People have been locked up in prisons for over six years. You don't start the trial, and you don't grant bail—this effectively becomes pre-trial conviction. On the other hand, you see notorious rapists getting released on parole and bail. When they come out on bail, they are garlanded with flowers and even given election tickets..."

बेल पाना उमर खालिद का संवैधानिक हक़ है। 'Bail is the rule, jail is the exception'—या तो निष्पक्ष ट्रायल चलाइए या बेल दीजिए, लेकिन सालों तक बिना ट्रायल के जेल में रखना असंवैधानिक है। Article 21 के तहत मिली व्यक्तिगत स्वतंत्रता का सम्मान होना चाहिए!

A person is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty by the courts of law. This has become pre-trial detention. A person has been in custody for six years. They were students. You are not conducting their trial, nor giving them bail. So, is the proper use of Article 21, which talks about liberty, being made? Right there, you see how many people we have seen getting continuous parole, bail, everything. But because here the name is such, we can see the difference because of the name as well...''
