उत्तर प्रदेश में चुनावी तैयारियों को लेकर AIMIM के नेता वारिस पठान ने कहा कि एआईएमआईएम की सभाओं में बड़ी संख्या में लोग शामिल हो रहे हैं और पार्टी अध्यक्ष असदुद्दीन ओवैसी को जनता का समर्थन मिल रहा है। उन्होंने दावा किया कि पार्टी को चुनाव में अच्छी सफलता मिलेगी। अखिलेश यादव के आजम खान से मिलने पर सवाल उठाते हुए पठान ने कहा कि एआईएमआईएम पहले से आजम खान के समर्थन में बात कर रही थी, लेकिन अखिलेश यादव को उनकी याद अब आई है।

If the Mumbai Police wants, they can uproot these people completely and throw them away. We saw what used to happen in the 80s and 90s. Similarly, people used to come, fire guns, and do all kinds of things. What did the Mumbai Police do? They took action into their own hands and completely cleaned them out. Now again, it feels like the 80s and 90s era is being seen in Mumbai. People are firing guns in broad daylight, and a naked dance of terror is being played. Firing happened at Tiger, before that at Salman Khan's place, at Rohit Shetty's house, and Baba Siddique was even killed. Back then, the Maharashtra government said that whoever is involved will be caught, finished, and eliminated from the root. Now what happened? The same thing is being said again: 'We will do this, we will do that'. Brother, when you know who is doing it, why they are doing it, and what their motive is, why is everyone sitting silent? Until action is taken, what safety is there for a common citizen in Mumbai? If Bollywood stars are not safe, what safety does a common citizen have in Mumbai?..."
