I want to make something clear about this.

When Megumi was searching for Sukuna’s finger, he wasn’t using his sense of smell. He was sensing its cursed energy.

When Yuji walked past him, Yuji was carrying the sealed box that had previously contained Sukuna’s finger. At that moment, Megumi sensed a very strong cursed energy residue, so he followed Yuji to the hospital and talked to him there.

Later, Megumi realized he had been tracking an empty box. The finger was already gone. What he sensed was only the cursed energy residue left behind, which made him think the finger was still with Yuji.

What Gege is showing here is that cursed energy residue can sometimes help someone track and find the real object, but sometimes it can’t. It’s not a guaranteed way to locate something.

The same idea applies to Gojo. The official fanbook also explains how this kind of sensing works. Megumi wasn’t “smelling” Yuji it’s simply the way Gege describes a sorcerer sensing cursed energy. That’s why in the manga Gojo is not sniffing Geto’s curse energy but he SENSE JUST LIKE MEGUMI and other sorcerer did. Of course people gonna ignore this because maybe to western media ignore the original author intention and context is >>>> speaking fact

That’s how people love to twisted the Asia culture too

It’s not SCENT and SNIFFING in volume 0 movie is NOT EXIST in the original manga but it’s ADD UP STUFF from anime team NOT GEGE
