“It’s all about community service and working for the residents,” said Hope Mayor Tim McDonough, a NJCM past president. Kern was one of the youngest mayors in NJ when he started. “The energy that Jim Kern has shows in all that he does,” McDonough said.
Commissioner James R. Kern III received the Former Mayor of the Year Award during the New Jersey Conference of Mayors’ 61st Annual Spring Conference in Atlantic City today. With Kern are NJCM President and Evesham Township Mayor Jaclyn Veasy and Hope Mayor Timothy McDonough.
The award recognizes Commissioner Kern’s years of public service and leadership at both the municipal and county levels, including his service as Mayor of Pohatcong Township and on the Warren County Board of County Commissioners.

The Commissioners proclaimed that this is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week, encouraging all residents to learn more about MS and what they can do to support those living with it. Tammy Quasius of the NJ Chapter of the National MS Society, who has MS, accepted the proclamation.

The NJTPA oversees regional transportation planning and partners with local and state agencies to help fund more than $3 billion in transportation investments annually for 13 counties in northern and central New Jersey.
Commissioner Jason J. Sarnoski was elected to a two-year term as First Vice Chair of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) at the January 12 Board of Trustees meeting.
"I am especially focused on ensuring that regional planning efforts remain practical, responsive, and grounded in the real transportation needs of our region,” Commissioner Sarnoski said.
