Empires are everywhere today. Even if you can't see them, you are in one. And emperors do what they will at the expense of both subjects and opponents. Commodification of the authentic, the social and private, created monsters both within and without.
@Sara_Imari The past isn't even past, it’s the only (known) thing informing the present. We don't really live in the present, but in reaction to what we perceive. What we perceive is expanding exponentially and informing the future, non-deterministicly. I don't see any disagreement
@leecronin Will it take over the creation of novelty from humans? Do you want to compete with machines for new ideas? Are you willing to offload the creative instinct to an increasingly complex digital system accelerating in understanding and capability?
If you arrive at something without doing much of anything, become suspicious. Likewise, if you arrive at nothing after trying everything, be suspicious. And if both a description and its inverse are true, perhaps you’re not saying much of any import at all. Or nuance, of course.
@leecronin I bet it will be published behind a paywall, produced from research financed by the taxpayer, resulting from the labor of several grad students and an editor. Oh, And be dangerously close to asserting assembly theory as the most important topic since the industrial revolution.
@Sara_Imari Should we distinguish between animate and inanimate objects? Is the heat death of the universe inevitable? Was there light at the beginning? Was it a big bang? Does life defeat the second law of thermodynamics? Is a supernova creative or destructive? Is anything sacred to science
@Sara_Imari There are almost infinite examples of life on this planet, there are many disparate yet similar patterns, matter structures information, and information informs matter's structure. What is alive now on this planet will probably die, but the continuity of all life continues.
Happy people are beautiful people; but happiness is fleeting, subjective, and hollow without sacrifice. What you want won’t make you happy. What you need won’t make you happy. In fact, if you try to be happy you’ll end up more miserable than ever before. So think a little first.
