If only middle school Washi could see this morning’s GOT ’EM 🥹💜👟

March 28, 2015: my first Sneaker Con in Cleveland at Independence Fieldhouse. Seventh-grade Washi in the Hollister hoodie, joggers and Roshe Runs… right in the middle of the Nike Elite socks era. That whole early/mid-2010s Nike wave had me hooked! 🤩

I was an avid hooper growing up, a huge Kobe fan who always wore 24. 🐐 I remember being so excited to leave with my Sneaker Con beanie and KD 6 BHMs, one of my first pairs of KDs. Being surrounded by people who shared that excitement opened my eyes to a much bigger sneaker community! 💫

But there was another pair that day I never forgot: the Kobe 8 Mambacurials. 🐍They’d originally dropped in 2013, and I still remember everyone crowding around a vendor’s stall to see them. 🥶 Seeing them in person for the first time had me awestruck! 😱

Having grown up playing peewee soccer too, I loved seeing that Mercurial style from the pitch brought onto the basketball court. That low, soccer-shoe look was part of what drew me to the KD 6 as well. They became one of my favorite shoes to hoop in, and my Easter pair got plenty of court time. ⚽️🏀

Now two of my favorite silhouettes from my playing days, the Kobe 8 and KD 6, are coming back… and this morning I finally secured those Mambacurials in Protro form on SNKRS. The pair that stopped middle school me in my tracks is finally going to be mine! 🥹

Seeing these classics return, with the Kobes updated for today’s court, makes me excited to lace them up and hopefully hoop in them someday. Also makes me feel a little old watching my childhood favorites become retros! 🥲

🗓️On September 4, I reached two years of streaming! 🌙

It all began with a wonderfully scuffed Minecraft stream with Juan that’s now lost to time.⛏️🎮 I never expected to become so attached to this journey—or feel so proud when Washi’s concept art finally brought an avatar that truly felt like me to life! 🥹✨

From battle-royale wins and gacha pulls to terrifying scares, heartbreaking stories, thrilling horse races and sneaker-drop hype, the Wembleys have been there through it all! 🎰🏇🏼👟

I’m still a certified scuff gremlin and an elven mage of dreams in training, but I’ve been working hard on what comes next. Here’s to the memories we made during my PNG-tubing era and the beginning of my VTuber era this fall. 🪄🍂

And that final reveal absolutely destroyed me—the drawings/code Akutsu developed overlaying his blacked-out prison letters to reveal the map leading Nana to the money he buried for her. Even when his words were literally being taken away from him, this man who could never simply tell Nana how deeply he loved his family still found one last way to communicate it through his art. 😭🗺️

The fireworks hit differently afterward too—something brilliant that bursts into life, scatters, and disappears almost immediately. 🎆 Akutsu never gets the peaceful second life I wanted for him, but the people he loved carry his impact beyond his death.

And as a huge Like a Dragon fan, I couldn’t stop thinking about Kazuma Kiryu—another yakuza protagonist whose prison time, sacrifice, taking the blame, and inability to simply live beside the family he loves costs him years he can never get back. They aren’t the same story, but that shared tragedy hit me incredibly hard. 🐉

The Last Blossom gave Akutsu redemption… just not the reward for it.

He wins in the end, but not for himself. 🌺🎆

I’m still not sure whether I find that ending beautiful or completely devastating.

Probably both.🥲

🌺THE LAST BLOSSOM SPOILERS!⚠️

I genuinely haven’t stopped thinking about The Last Blossom since seeing it in theaters. I left heartbroken and honestly wanting more—more time for Akutsu, more justice for everything that was taken from him, and desperately wishing he could’ve seen Nana and Kensuke again instead of dying alone on that prison-cell floor.😭🪴

But the more I’ve sat with the ending, the more beautifully devastating it feels.

The balsam bursting at the exact moment Akutsu dies—the plant itself disappearing while its seeds scatter outward—felt like the perfect image for his life.🥀🍃

Akutsu ends, but what he gave to Nana and Kensuke doesn’t. 🌸

Kensuke lives because of his sacrifice, Nana finally understands what he had been trying to leave behind for her, and his love reaches them even when he no longer can.🥺💜
