FIFA President Gianni Infantino attempted to sell FIFA! What was he thinking? Anyway, all football federations across the world, even in America opposed the sale. Europe vowed to boycott all FIFA tournaments including future World Cups. Africa is the only continent that kept quiet. CAF led by Patrice Motsepe went underground. African teams were mistreated in the just ended World Cup. Its players were searched like drug dealers. Its best referee was refused visa. Infantino didn’t stand for Africa. Yet CAF under Motsepe are too cowardly to call out Infantino. But because the rest of the world opposed the sale, Infantino had to retreat & shelf the idea.

If Aisha Jumwa has honestly joined Jubilee, then it’s GOOD RIDDANCE. That’s where she fits best, alongside fellow political thugs in a party that played a huge role in creating many of the broken systems we are still struggling with today. She can even go back to Ruto for all I care.

This idea that she “has the masses” is exactly the kind of politics that keeps us going in circles. If people genuinely want change, then we have to stop rallying behind famous faces and start rallying behind people of integrity. That also means not shying away from civic education and challenging voters to ask harder questions before they cast their vote.

Ruto must go, and he will go, but we will not be left behind with the very people who helped him butcher this country. Replacing one set of failed leaders with another is not change.

Linda Mwananchi has to mean exactly that, protect the wananchi. Not recycle the same political thugs every election because they’re popular or looking for an easier political home.

Ruto just spent 40 minutes trying to create a false equivalence between our national values set out in the constitution and his so called “development”. Kenyans, please trust me when i tell you there is a reason the Preamble comes before Article 43. You don’t get to the “development “ clauses until and unless you have taken into account the reasons we passed this constitution in the first place. Democracy, Human Rights, Freedom, Equality, Rule of Law and Social Justice.

H.E Edwin Sifuna has stated that Linda Mwananchi will offer Kenya a government that listens to its people, respects the rule of law, and faithfully upholds democratic ideals and values.

History teaches us that these ideals are the very foundation upon which the world’s most prosperous and stable nations were built. The countries that embraced accountable government, strong institutions, the rule of law and respect for the rights and freedoms of their citizens created the conditions for lasting growth and prosperity.

These values create certainty, certainty attracts investment, investment creates jobs, jobs generate incomes, grow businesses and build prosperity. Ultimately, these values and ideals strengthen the social fabric of a nation.

That is the vision of Linda Mwananchi: a Kenya where government serves the people, institutions are stronger than individuals, enterprise is free to thrive, and every Kenyan has the opportunity to live with dignity and prosper.

Members of Parliament are openly confessing how they took bribes to undertake a constitutional process & yet nothing will happen to them. No inquiries. No investigations. Nothing. In fact, even journalists interviewing them are laughing about it like it is a joke. I give up!

Kenya kwisha supporters expected Edwin Sifuna to do what Ruto does, make grand promises that border on outright lies… “In 6 months time, I will give free diapers, free phone calls, free internet, build 1,000 dams and water pans, create millions of jobs overnight, build tens of stadiums across the country etc.”

Sifuna chose a different path. Instead of promising miracles, he is promising to fix what is broken in our country by building a government that listens to its people, respects the rule of law, upholds democratic values, inspires investor confidence, creates opportunity and dignity for all and protects the life and rights of every Kenyan (“We will not kill our young people, no one will be arrested for tweeting, we will not teargas churches”)

As he aptly puts it, “We in Linda Mwananchi are software engineers.”

In other words, instead of making unrealistic promises about the hardware, he will first fix the software that runs the system.

The first commitment is to cut wasteful public expenditure and eliminate extravagance in government. The savings should then be used to ease the burden on ordinary Kenyans, particularly by reducing the burden of taxation.

Sifuna acknowledges that prosperity does not begin with grand campaign promises, but with good governance. He also readily acknowledges that no leader can be an expert in everything or know everything. That is why he is committed to listening to the people, and also to experts, professionals and practitioners across different sectors to develop practical solutions that will move Kenya forward.

Kenyans shouldn't begrudge Sen Sifuna for his meteoric political rise. We should instead celebrate it. It's always a good thing when a young man gets a break in politics or any career for that matter and thrust himself into the national limelight. Remember, Sifuna hasn't elbowed anyone. He simply claimed a space that was empty since Hon. Kijana Wamalwa died two decades ago. For too long, Western was bereft of a political heavyweight that sat at the national table as of right. Sifuna seems to be the new kid on the block. And to be fair to the young man, his appeal goes beyond Luhya land.
