Today, I was honoured to join H.E. the President during the official closing ceremony of the National Productivity and Performance Conference 2026 at the Kenya School of Government.
The conference, organized by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission, highlighted the critical role of productivity, performance management, and human capital development in accelerating Kenya's socio-economic transformation.
As Principal Secretary for Labour and Skills Development, I remain committed to advancing policies and programmes that foster a skilled, productive, and competitive workforce, recognizing that enhanced productivity is fundamental to efficient service delivery, sustainable economic growth, and national prosperity.
I encourage the youth to take advantage of government programmes and opportunities available to start income-generating activities, regardless of how small they may seem. Through initiatives such as the forthcoming NITA Fund, the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme, and the free online virtual training and mentorship programme offered by the State Department for Labour and Skills Development in partnership with Ajira Digital and Safaricom, we are creating pathways for skills development, online work opportunities, and industrial attachments to empower our youth and enhance their livelihoods.

Later, I met with the new @@nea_kenya Board Chairman, Mr. Geoffrey Kipkoech Maritim, during a meeting at the State Department for Labour and Skills Development.
I underscored the critical role of the National Employment Authority in creating and facilitating employment opportunities for Kenyans both locally and internationally.
I also highlighted NEA’s mandate in the registration and regulation of private recruitment agencies, which remains key in protecting job seekers from exploitation and ensuring orderly labour migration.
I further noted that strengthening public confidence in the institution should be a key priority for the new leadership.
This can be achieved through enhanced transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery as NEA continues to position itself as a trusted gateway to employment opportunities for Kenyans.
