Alloa Athletic achieved promotion in season 1938–39. After 5 games WW2 ended the season. Post war re-organisation of the Scottish leagues saw The Wasps placed back into Division Two.

Alloa Athletic's first post WW2 manager was James 'Jimmy' Scrymagour Crapnell in season 1945/46. 'Jimmy' had previously played for Cambuslang, Airdrieonians & Motherwell. He was also capped 9 times for Scotland before arriving at The Recs.
