Connecting everyone in #Waste in the UK #WasteHour every Weds 8pm-9pm. Share contact details, share issues, share resolutions, discuss current affairs in waste.
3.5 million people more in the U.K. since 2011. Did we build the extra sewage treatment plants and ERFs to deal with the waste this number of people create? https://t.co/K8jeJsihuy
@WasteHourUK Hey. Thanks for the follow. The 13 Kent councils provide these details on an annual basis via its End Destinations Publication. The latest version can be found here -

Welcome any feedback! I'm DM you now. #WasteHour
Is there a reason why these destinations aren't published?
Could it possibly be commercially sensitive? They don't want people to know? Too much work to pull it together? Worried about a reaction?
#WasteHour
Some I noticed this week sparked an interest.
Should LAs have to report where our waste goes? It's a legal requirement for businesses to know where their #Waste goes. Should the general public get to know too.?

Welcome to #WasteHour
Shout up, any one out there who can help another? Anyone needing help? Wanting to share your services? Needing services?
Anyone youd like to discuss?
#Waste#Recycling#RDf#Plastics, you name it 👍
@pe_morgan It is odd when you think about it. Wheelie bins were introduced. They helped to prevent similar issues from waste sacks and steel dustbins.
Now so many LAs have boxes and woven sacks.
#StarterFor10 Hows #Waste best disposed of for General Public? All in one bin then sorted at #MRF, segregated into tubs/bags/bins by producer, utilise DPS schemes, use recycling banks, return it all to origin, i.e. shops/manufacturers.

@Martinsalopian It's getting better, but far too slow. Unless it's something drastic, I feel it may take years rather than months. It's a big tanker to turn.
#WasteHour over until next week.
Join us next week, think of a topic, use the hashtag, throw it in the pot.
See you next Wednesday 8-9pm
Enjoy the rest of your #WasteWednesday
@Martinsalopian Quite agree. Everything should be designed in the first instance with the whole life of the product in mind. This includes the packaging and disposal. Also to ensure all LAs can handle it in the standard services.
I like the idea of #PayAsYouThrow#PAYT schemes, but do wonder if this would lead to poor disposal. With people contaminating cheaper streams, tipping in other people's bins or worse still increase #FlyTipping
Or, should there be a communal area for each street, or block etc? Everyone looks after it, and waste is easily bulked into constituents parts in separate 1100's.
Potentially be collected on same rounds as Commercial empties to save CO2
