Binning vapes instead of recycling them correctly can cause fires.
This is dangerous for our waste and recycling workers and can cause extensive damage to our bin lorries and waste treatment facilities.
Never bin your vape at home. All retailers that sell vapes are legally required to offer vape takeback.
They can also be recycled at Household Waste Recycling Centres- many will have dedicated bins for them.

78% of UK adults would be likely to buy their usual fruit and veg loose if they were sold that way, according to #LoveFoodHateWaste's latest survey.
It showed that for 19 out of 21 common fruit and vegetables, UK adults would prefer to buy them loose over packaged.
60,000 tonnes of food waste could be prevented if all apples, potatoes and bananas were sold loose, representing 8.2 million shopping baskets’ worth of food.
During #FoodWasteActionWeek, we're calling for the UK government to consider restricting packaging on uncut fresh fruit and vegetables sold in retail.
This recommendation has been developed with the food and drink industry, across the supply chain. Selling these 21 items only loose could potentially save 100,000 tonnes of edible fruit and vegetables from being wasted annually in people's homes as well as saving 13,000 tonnes of plastic film.

Food residues left on our tins, cans, jars, and other recyclable items are contaminants.
Too much of these will cause whole loads of recycling to be rejected.
Remove as much food as possible by rinsing any bottles, jars, tins, and cans and ripping any greasy parts off any cardboard boxes🍕

Making some easy swaps to reusable items can make a big difference to our planet.
Here are some ways to get started.
💧Water bottles – help reduce the amount of single use plastic bottles thrown away (estimated to be around 7.7. billion in the UK each year!)
☕ Coffee cups – some retailers offer a small discount for using them
🍎 Loose fruit and vegetable bags – many supermarkets have switched to these already!
Toothpaste tubes are often made of different types of plastics, as well as containing a metal layer. This means that they cannot be recycled easily 🪥
Please put them in your general waste bins at home.
Alternatively, look at if they can be recycled at your local Boots store as they accepted on their Recycle and Reward scheme
