Alfred's girlfriend Winnie becomes infatuated with “Michael Duckson” making Alfred jealous and prompting him to try to win her back by becoming an artist.
The “Michael Duckson” episode aired in late 1989 in Japan and November 1990 in other regions.

If you watched the videos you'd see Smith's criticisms are all valid, he's a huge fan of Johto and approached it from a good faith game design perspective.
He even led a project where all the major problems with the games are fixed while still trying to feel like a vanilla game, not a rom hack. Once you play Crystal Legacy, you won't wanna play the original version. It's a love letter.
