In a significant move to enhance healthcare for its members, the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), led by President @FaithOdhiambo8 and accompanied by CEO Florence Muturi, today launched the Wakili Medicover scheme. This initiative, rolled out in partnership with @OctagonAfrica , aims to address the often-overlooked health needs of advocates.

During the launch, President Odhiambo highlighted a common challenge faced by legal professionals. She noted that advocates who have practiced in Kenya for a considerable time would understand how easily their well-being can become collateral damage. This, she explained, is due to being deeply engrossed in the pursuit of justice, managing client deadlines, accumulating CPD points, and dealing with unpaid fee notes. Odhiambo pointed out that while advocates tirelessly defend their clients' rights daily, it's rare for them to prioritize their own right to good health.

President Odhiambo emphasized that the Wakili Medicover scheme is more than just an insurance policy; it's a profound statement. It signifies the Law Society of Kenya's commitment to valuing not only advocates' intellectual contributions but also their lives. She affirmed that this scheme is a way of communicating to every advocate—from the most experienced "silk" to the newest junior at the magistrates’ court—that they matter.
