Don’t get me wrong. This is incredibly stupid.
But there is no evidence it has anything to do with feminism.
The self refutation in calling these moms out for hoping on a trend because calling them out is a trend is thick.
This is a clip from my talk at Harvard University, where I demonstrated just how isolating and disempowering the hijab and niqab can be.
On the rare occasions Muslim women are allowed to leave their fundamentalist homes, they are forced to interact with the world through a veil of isolation - even expected to hide their voices from “strange” men.
And yet, many in the West insist the niqab and hijab are apparently “empowering”.
Just one day inside this body bag would undoubtedly change their minds.
@InspiringPhilos @Afghan609 And many more are joining the fight.
Turns out if you actually teach others how to defend their faith they feel empowered to do so.
Whoda thought?🙄
Muhammed is still in his grave.
Joseph smith is still in his grave.
Buddah is still in his grave.
But there’s one. The God who humbled himself and put on flesh.
He wasn’t found in His grave.
