This Bill is the height of political fraud. You cannot amend the Constitution to extend your own term in office, that is self-dealing of the worst kind.

Articles 101, 136, 177 and 180 were deliberately fixed at 5 years to ensure accountability through periodic elections. Extending terms to 7 years without going back to the people is a direct assault on Article 1 ; sovereignty belongs to the people, not to politicians.

Creating a Prime Minister appointed by the President under Article 151 is an insult to Kenyans who fought for a system that checks imperial presidency. This clause is nothing but a backdoor to dictatorship.

The Constitution of Kenya, 2010 was born from blood, sweat, and tears to curb excess power and restore dignity to the people. Amending it for selfish tenure extensions is subversion.

These politicians need to understand that they are custodians, not owners, of the Constitution. Power is loaned by the people and must be returned and not hoarded like stolen property.

Which is a crime if we refer to a court ruling on the 10th of May 2018 on Okiya Omtatah's Petition Vs The Communication Authority of Kenya, where the High Court declared any form of surveillance policy unconstitutional and illegal.
