@eagle_greg@byroncarroll FYI when I refute your false understanding of the scriptures thats not a deflection. You have not brought a single point that supports your doctrine, but only your lack of understanding of what those scriptures teach.
@eagle_greg@byroncarroll Your question is irrelevant. They were tasked to preach the Gospel and Jesus said they would not get to all the cities before he comes and meets them again.
That is simply scripture fulfilled and it had NOTHING to do with his second coming.
Well once again you think you found something that fits your doctrine by finding a scripture that you have to insert your doctrine into, so that it seems to work.
This is called Eisegesis
which is the process of interpreting a text by injecting one's own ideas, biases, or preconceived notions into it.
The correct process for studying the scriptures is Exegesis, which is drawing out the author's original intended meaning based on context, language, and history.
So here is what you quoted
“When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.”
Matthew 10:23 ESV
You think this means before the Second Coming of Jesus, but that is not what Jesus is telling them for the Greek word used for his second coming is parousia.
The Greek word used here for "comes" is erchomai.
Jesus meant He would literally catch up to them swiftly or rendezvous with them during their initial mission trips which is exactly what happened.
Though Luke is an example in the sending of 72 which occurred after the sending of the initial 12.
Luke 10:
17 Now the seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name!”
In both cases Jesus came (erchomai) when their evangelism ended.
You then ask
“Are these towns going to need to be rebuilt first so they can face what’s in this next scripture?”
“Truly I tell you, it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.”
Matthew 10:15 AMPC”
Here your attempt to claim these would have to be rebuilt for a later second coming is EMPTY for all the surrounding towns in Israel especially those mentioned by Jesus in his warning were not destroyed until after 70ad with the exception of Jerusalem.
Jesus named these specifically.
Chorazin - Final Abandonment: around the 8th to 13th centuries.
Bethsaida - Final Abandonment: By the 4th century AD
Capernaum - Final Abandonment: A catastrophic earthquake devastated the region on January 18, 749 AD.
@eagle_greg@byroncarroll I have studied the chapter many times. Not really sure why Jesus said that, but it doesn’t effect anything and actually proves that had nothing to do with his second coming if he hadn’t risen yet from his first coming.
@CertainSpeaks Lol, Jesus is YHWH Savior YHWH of Armies
And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.
@eagle_greg@byroncarroll Nice try, read the scriptures and learn.
Peter, James, and John,
Saw “the kingdom of God when it has come with power.”
The Transfiguration was the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise.
This CAN NOT be the second coming for Jesus NEVER left.
Lol, you are cracking me up!
You state “Unfortunately for you there are no “ifs” for you to lean on to skew the meaning of the scripture with.”
Be honest did I skew the meaning or did you simply not understand what the scriptures taught?
Then you also state “This is the scripture I paraphrased in the last post.”
What you actually did was simply
misquote the verse thinking it was his returning.
Lets take a look at those scriptures in context and you should see they were fulfilled 6 days later
Mark 9:1 9 And Jesus was saying to them, “Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God when it has come with power.”
2 And six days later Jesus *took with Him Peter, James, and John, and *brought them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them; 3 and His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them. 4 And Elijah appeared to them along with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus. 5 Peter responded and *said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here; let’s make three tabernacles, one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 6 For he did not know how to reply; for they became terrified. 7 Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud: “This is My beloved Son; listen to Him!” 8 And suddenly they looked around and saw no one with them anymore, except Jesus alone.
Jesus’ transfiguration was the fulfillment of verse 1
Make him less than God, well why not that’s what all the other false religions do, Right?
Islam: Reveres Jesus as a major prophet and the Messiah but not divine or the Son of God.
Jehovah's Witnesses: Believe Jesus is the first creation of God (Michael the Archangel) and separate from God.
Mormonism (Latter-day Saints):View God the Father and Jesus as separate beings, with Jesus being the Son, but not the same entity as the Father.
Judaism: Does not accept Jesus as divine, the Messiah, or the Son of God.
Unitarian Universalists: Teach that Jesus was a great moral teacher, not God.
Christian Science: Views Jesus as the Son of God and a teacher, but not God Himself.
Gnosticism: Often view Jesus as a divine messenger, but his humanity and divinity were distinct, sometimes viewing him as a lesser emanated being
Hinduism: regard Jesus as a divine or holy figure, though not as the "one true God" in the exclusive Christian sense
The False eschatologies of the last few centuries have one primary purpose and fulfill Jesus’ warning he gave when he started his Olivet Discourse (The signs for his second coming)
which by the way CAME AFTER his prophecy of the Temple Destruction he had earlier discribed.
Matthew 24: 4 And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many people.
The primary purpose of Preterism and Dispensationalism is to disarm and set the church up for failure telling them that they don’t have to be ready to overcome and persevere through the coming Tribulation, but instead teach it all ready happened or escape.
The destruction of the Temple occurred in 70ad and we are now in the New Covenant. The Jews were scattered and are now gathered from the nations. This now sets up the final fulfillment of scripture before Jesus returns.
The secondary purpose of Preterism is the Hatred of the Sons of Jacob within the Christian Church.
In the end, the entire world will come against Israel and then we see finally the second coming of Jesus Christ as he comes to save his people both Christians and Jews.
Zachariah 12 we see him fight against the nations that come against Israel and they will see him who they pierced.
Revelation 1:7
Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.
This has not occurred yet!
Then when Jesus returns he will reign from Jerusalem for a thousand years!
Zechariah 14:1 Behold, a day is coming for the Lord when the spoils taken from you will be divided among you. 2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be taken, the houses plundered, the women raped, and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be eliminated from the city.3 Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle.4 On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west forming a very large valley.
9 And the Lord will be King over all the earth; on that day the Lord will be the only one, and His name the only one.
16 Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of armies, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths. 17 And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of armies, there will be no rain on them.
Then after that you will reign with his father with a new heaven and earth for eternity.
It would have been written about because it fits my doctrine is not a good argument.
Note Revelation wrote about
Seven Seals
Seven Trumpets
Seven Bowls
The Return of Jesus
And none of those events are recorded in history.
You know why? Because it hasn’t happened yet!
Or you can pretend they happened by claiming they are something they aren’t.
@eagle_greg@byroncarroll Revelation is a prophetic book for what would happen in the future!
So If it was an earlier writing you could perhaps expect the Temple destruction mentioned.
With a later writing why would you expect it to be writing about the past.
Do you think Jesus was to stupid to know what he was saying?
Deuteronomy 6:4
“Hear, Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!
So much for honoring Jesus
John 5:23
so that all will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
