@OurOcean organize the International Coastal Cleanup every year and it's happening today across 100+ countries. As The Water District develops along Fort Lauderdale's coastline, we are grateful to everyone taking part to help keep our beaches and waterways healthy. #SeaTheChange
Water safety starts long before anyone enters the water. During Drowning Impact Awareness Month, Casey McGovern of Every Child a Swimmer shares why early swim instruction matters and how The Water District and @ISHOF are helping carry this mission forward.
A hundred years ago in 1926, Gertrude Ederle became the first woman to swim the English Channel, completing 21 miles in 14 hours and changing what the world thought was possible. Home to @ISHOF, The Water District will help carry stories like hers forward for the next generation.
The nationβs top lifeguards are at FTL Beach this week for the USLA National Lifeguard Championships. As Presenting Sponsors, The Water District and @ISHOF are proud to support an event promoting water safety and honoring the pros keeping our beaches safe: https://t.co/ljJfubCtSY

Look up... way up! πΒ
Opening in 2028, The Water District is home to the iconic dive tower, the tallest in the Western Hemisphere, standing at 27 meters (nearly 9 stories high). The full district opens in 2028.

History was made at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center last night. @ISHOF & #TheWaterDistrict signed world champion James Lichtenstein as their first-ever high dive athlete sponsor β then he dove from 27 meters to prove why. π€Ώ

Thank you to @CBSMiamiand Mayor @DeanTrantalis for shining a spotlight on what's taking shape at 501 Seabreeze Blvd. π#TheWaterDistrict#TWD2028#SoFlo
This week, I had the opportunity to speak with CBS News Miami about FTL's future Water District. This project will reimagine the area surrounding the International Swimming Hall of Fame and our world-class Aquatic Center. For far too long, this peninsula was underutilized and in need of renewal. That is finally changing.
The Water District will bring meaningful upgrades to public spaces, enhanced amenities at the Aquatic Center, and new features, including a marine aquarium, a rooftop restaurant, and shade sails for spectators. This project solidifies Fort Lauderdale's status as a global destination for aquatic excellence. From Olympic athletes training in our facilities to families enjoying our waterfront, this is truly a one-of-a-kind place to swim, dive, and train.
With the first phase expected to be completed this summer and the full buildout by 2028, the Water District will welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, strengthening our local economy and creating new opportunities for our community. #WeAreFTL
