New achievement findings reveal how “broken" state report-card system is. Kids in poor schools show same academic growth as others, but “the way the accountability system is set up, it's set up to punish high-poverty districts”. https://t.co/kfbOklZdIf

A text from a parent doesn't seem like much until you realize that this was a parent I had 2 years ago. Teaching is a privilege that I don't take for granted. @FuhreySamantha @MsRBattle@mresnewton
@AllStarTeach06 I'm laughing at this because after 30 years of teaching I still get excited and I get butterflies the first day of school. Thank you for the joy you just brought to my heart.
@MrsWs_ed@teachergoals It's also not built with bowls of candy. We know that better relationships with children make our classrooms better. I don't understand why we don't know that about teachers.
Students DON’T learn to ‘calm down’ by being told to calm down. They need to be taught ways to label their feelings (stop, name that feeling, do something about it).

@MrsRToth I have good relationship with my kids, but I love the idea of show-and-tell. I'm wondering about having them write a simple five sentence summary and have them bring in a specific show until.
@edutopia When I taught 4th grade, kids applied for their jobs and they had real life titles. When I moved to second grade I kept the real life titles, security, catering Etc. This is been a very big deal for my kids. I'm not sure why but they loved it.
What we call behavior problems are often social and emotional needs that are being met inappropriately. Don't add to the problem with inappropriate behavior yourself. @mresnewton
