ICYMI — 10,000 lead service lines have been replaced in Milwaukee — thanks to the incredible work of @milwaukeedpw - @WaterWorksMKE, our able contractors, the women and men of the trade unions, and the continued partnership of residents in the city.
We’ve got a ways to go and my administration is ramping up our efforts to remove even more — like the 2,700 we removed in 2024 alone!
We’re building a city where no child is exposed to lead via drinking water and we’re going to accomplish this big goal, together.
On March 31, we celebrate the legacy of labor leader and civil rights activist Cesar Chavez. This day is commemorated to promote service in honor of his life and his work.

Plow drivers put in a huge effort to clear our streets as fast and efficiently as possible, but it does take time. DPW runs a very dynamic plan, and will redeploy equipment where it is needed most. Please give our drivers space and a thumbs up when they pass.
DPW is conducting a plowing operation to make sure streets are safe & passable. Please give salt & plow trucks space on the road & follow parking rules so trucks can get through all city streets to push snow back all the way to the curb.
Have you read the news? Our traffic calming measures are working. We’re making roads safer not only for drivers, but for pedestrians & bikers alike. We’re making strides every day to make streets safer & more enjoyable. 🚴♂️🏃♀️🛴🚗

This crew of Water Works trainees has been studying construction at our Howard Ave. Training Grounds, and just installed their first #firehydrant. Shout out to Carlos O, Bryant W, Nick B, Donyail P, Destiny G, and Kyle S for the amazing work and your commitment to public service!
We are so happy individuals and families can enjoy bikeways like the one on Hawley Road. The new jersey barriers were placed to provide better protection and that work will continue as weather allows. The same work will be done to the North Ave bridge. This is just the beginning!
Extremely cold temperatures are to blame for a surge in Milwaukee water main breaks. Water Works says 22 breaks have happened since Friday.

@brookebikesmke We do not! Which is why we rely on alert residents to call our Water Control Center at 414-286-3710 to let us know when they see water flowing in the street or are experiencing low pressure! Always call, because low or no flow at your property could be a frozen service line!
A reminder that a Snow Emergency is still in effect for the City of Milwaukee. No parking on main streets and alternate side parking required on side streets between 10PM and 6AM. Posted street signs take precedence. Visit https://t.co/XE9JeQ7LMw for more information.
@MKEWaterWorks advises homeowners to act now to avoid property damage and costly repairs to frozen or burst pipes that can come with freezing temperatures. Visit https://t.co/xvIhNS0bmZ for tips.
