I was stunned to find out how many constraints the project designers had to deal with. Even though this Whitewater Park is just one small section of the #Deschutes River, it seemed like all the issued from the entire basin affected the design in some way. An excellent case study!
New episode is live! What value judgements, aesthetic decisions, and technical considerations go into creating a whitewater park? Landscape Architect Chelsea Schneider walks me through the design process for the @bendparksandrec@CityofBend Whitewater Park https://t.co/KbL7dGJdeV
There are also lots of relatively cheap sensors ~$300-750 that can provide preliminary data to a grant application or complement ongoing projects. If this podcast ever allowed me to get a few of these, that would be a real bonus!
I have two more interviews recorded that will be coming your way soon. This podcast is a passion of mine and it will always be free, but support is also appreciated! I set up a Patreon account, so please check it out you're able.

I'm especially excited about supporting UG research. Many students want to get experience, but UG research salary is hard to come by. So they end up volunteering in an unpaid role. I will donate the UG research proceeds to my institution so they can be used to pay UG students.
Tomorrow I’ll be interviewing a landscape architect to discuss nontechnical perspectives on green stormwater infrastructure and whitewater parks. What questions do you have about these topics?
In Episode 2, @chelsea_panos joins to discuss what infill development means for #stormwater runoff (and what can be done to mitigate stormwater impacts).
