Mainnet Snapshot Update
The Waterfall Mainnet snapshot is now 5× smaller.
The current chain state requires over 300 GiB, while the new snapshot is approximately 70 GiB. This significantly reduces the disk space required to download the snapshot and initialize a node from it.
Before replacing your node data, make sure your validator keys are backed up.

We are currently preparing our codebase for submission to the Linux Foundation.
Since the original codebase was based on Ethereum components under GPL/LGPL, we need to separate our own code and align the relevant parts under the Apache 2.0 license to meet Linux Foundation requirements.
The dev team has already completed around 70% of this work and is continuing with the remaining code separation and license alignment.

⚡️ Waterfall Network: Scaling Results (Tests 25-29)
We’ve wrapped up our latest private network tests. Test 29 (2s slots / 35 blocks) emerged as the optimal configuration for high-performance throughput.
The Performance:
175,000 TPS (Peak)
128,333 TPS (Sustained)
What we learned:
🔹 It’s about staying power: Reaching peak speed is one thing; the real challenge is keeping that speed consistent (retention).
🔹 It’s about smart scaling: Shorter slots combined with higher block density drive the highest performance gains.
🔹 It’s about hardware synergy: While we used standard nodes, more CPU cores directly translate to better stability under heavy loads.
Scaling is a constant balance of timing, density, and hardware. These results are just the foundation. We are already moving to the next testing phase to push these limits even further.

Details on Recent Technical Issues
We experienced two technical events in early February.
Feb 4: In one data center, some nodes lost connection to the main network. Since more than one-third of the validators were located there, the network temporarily could not collect enough votes to reach consensus. After connectivity was restored and the nodes were restarted, consensus and normal network operation were restored.
Feb 11: One network participant ran identical validators on different nodes. As a result, two valid blocks could sometimes be produced at the same time, which led to forks and unstable network behavior.
Additionally, a bug was identified: on some nodes, a valid block could be rejected on the first attempt, causing the node to enter a syncing state and temporarily stop participating in consensus. This issue was fixed. You can update your Docker nodes, and a desktop app update will be released shortly.
