@_vectorist That $13m figure come from the $390m pv tax revenue over 30 years?
If so, that’s just what the taxes would be worth $390m if provided as a lump sum *today*. The actual annual revenue would be much higher over the years.
I also don’t see the connection to overspending on cops
on PennDOT’s justifications for expanding the I-95, the pseudoscience of traffic modeling, and the history of the interstate
available to read on the same device you use to subtweet that councilperson & tell your mom you love her
@artimidore@ninthhostage Yeah I know. But if your goal is to show that the site isn’t where “poor people” live why would you only share the part of the map with the higher income population?
@PhDemetri@Naijamak I think this comes from the legacy of biology/chemistry methods being largely step by step processes that can be reapplied to similar contexts with relatively little concern. Conceptual distinctions between research questions/data don’t arise like they do in statistics
@SheenNadavallil @ohnohedead @ninthhostage I just mean there’s still time to push for concessions and investment that would help soften the blow to the community and prop up the cultural status. If we can hold onto that aspect of the neighborhood the neg impact group would be a lot smaller
@SheenNadavallil @ohnohedead @ninthhostage In fairness, the study arrived at that conclusion after making a strong assumption that the arena would directly result in a decline of Chinatown as a cultural hub. I'm not fully convinced that outcome is guaranteed
@artimidore@ninthhostage I don’t follow. His point was that it’s not “where the poor people live” then showed only one side of the area where it would be built
@Feliciafied Yeah and I think it's insane that our land use policies allow a corporation to sit on property because they might be able to gain down the line
@coryfromphilly@criticalurban Nobody views the chance of a tow as a form of payment. That's like saying people think parking streetside without paying because there's a chance they won't get a ticket is "paid"
Paid parking is only effective if the person driving bears the cost directly
@coryfromphilly@criticalurban There should be more efficient storage options, but I feel like a neighborhood car share could help with the infrequently used vehicles. If most residents only drive every couple of months, why keep a private vehicle?
@coryfromphilly@criticalurban It actually is free to park there for acme customers. They tow cars left there. If anything, that just shows how few customers actually use the lot
@criticalurban@ffootballXchamp You’ve just provided a chart showing a correlation between driving a lot and gdp. I could easily argue that means increased driving is a luxury good resulting from economic growth
@criticalurban@ffootballXchamp If you’re just going to whine about not being able to find a spot I’m pretty sure we’re done here. Have fun finding somewhere to store your personal property in public and depriving the rest of us of the space
@criticalurban Never said anything about any of this. I’m talking about a single parking lot in a dense residential neighborhood that goes largely unused
