@JFreshHockey@emanningwrites So strange to see him down there. Optimist says this is a good sign. They have the luxury to adjust and improve. Like you said. It’s needed to compete against the canes.
The Habs are the anti-Carolina Hurricanes.
Habs don’t shoot unless it’s worth it; worth losing possession. Canes shoot everything (And regain possession). repeat.
Very different styles. Will be exciting !
The Montreal Canadiens are the youngest NHL team to advance to the conference final since the 1993 #habs, per @NHLPR.
Both teams with an average age of 25.8.
The most under appreciated aspect about hockey— the subtle deception by positional play to manipulate the movement of the puck in your favour.
Here Hutson intentionally gives space to induce the bad pass and interception.
Or. Just hockey.
Really nice sequence from Hutson in man on man coverage. Structure seems to fit Hutson, an undersized defender with mobility and an elite mind much better than being anchored around the slot to engage in those types of battles
Also allows him to make reads and jump puck movement higher in the zone and quickly transition to offence. @JhanHky highlights this in his book
Will be interesting to see how the team as a whole handles the Carolina offensive zone pressure and pace. On the flip side, I'll be even more curious to see how Montreal's dynamic offensive zone plays against the Hurricanes man on man coverage
Not in a million years. Dach and Bolduc don’t fit this narrative. Proof that role players are more about ‘a time’ than a career; that hockey does indeed have a component of magic.

Habs coach Marty St. Louis today when asked about fans “going overboard” with Kirby Dach on social media:
“I don’t know, it’s tough. We need all hands on deck, fans included. We’re not perfect. Guys are gonna make mistakes. But I can tell you we have good intentions out there. I would say ‘Let’s stick together.”
“He’s making it personal with the comment at Slafkovský, rather than looking at the bench and getting them going… I didn’t like it.”
@kbieksa3 joins @RealKyper and @jtbourne to weigh in on Brandon Hagel's fight against Juraj Slafkovský.

I think these guys really appreciated the ‘knockout’ and little man gestures from Hagel. Don Cherry might’ve said something like ‘these things come around’.
Gotta say. Embarrassingly over the top for TB players. They looked desperate, foolish and high. If the narrative is that these actions won them the game, then I’m happy to buy it. See you in Montreal.
