60 years of the Bondi Mermaids. One of Waverley Council’s most fondly remembered public art installations was at Ben Buckler in North Bondi. Council recognises the Bondi Mermaids as an important contribution to modern Australia beach culture and public sculpture.

Parking meters are now switched off from 7pm at Bondi Beach car park and Campbell Parade Turning off the meters in Bondi Beach will help residents and business. This is not a trial. The meters have been switched off from 7pm year round.

Bondi Beach temporarily closed this morning for removal infant whale body which washed ashore. Significant injuries. Council staff removed body from water, contacted National Parks Wildlife Service and Organisation for the Rescue and Research of Cetaceans (ORRCA) to assist.

Eastgate Bondi Junction major gas leak now under control. Over 1000 shoppers, staff & residents evacuated around 1pm. Fire crews shut off gas now left the scene. Centre reopened. Residents & shoppers return.
