Yesterday, firefighters again held the South Rim Fire to zero growth! A recon flight and accurate GPS mapping has updated the official size to 1341 acres, and 60% contained. Today, crews will monitoring, clearing downed trees, and directing bucket drops on remaining hot spots.

The North Rim experienced their first rain of the season today! With it came the intoxicating smell known as petrichor, or smell that comes just after it starts to rain, especially after a long dry spell, and accentuated by the heat. What is your favorite smell? Sage anyone?
