A Decade after ........ Waymo - continues to have very serious problems. Going from point A to point B ( without unnecessarily going to Point C D E F G H I J K)
#WAYMO Problems
NOT A #SanFrancisco treat Mr mayor @SFMayorsOffice
I have encountered MANY MANY MANY Problems with
my #Waymo rides ...... including the #RoboTaxi
turning a 5 minute get to your destination on time
.... into 1 hour 25 minutes later .... and no customer service
American is in a self driving Waymo
When he got in he realized the estimated time to his destination is way longer than it should be
The Waymo is taking him in opposite directions, is circling random parking lots and won’t listen to him
He’s calling support form inside the Waymo and the only option they have is to have him get out and book an Uber and they’ll refund him
But now he’s in the middle of nowhere on a highway….
It was only supposed to take 7 minutes to get home but the trip is now 40+ minutes in the Waymo…. And now they want him to just get out and book an Uber
At the end of the video he shows the Waymo vehicle screen, there is another 28 minutes until her gets to his destination
He says he won’t be taking another driverless vehicle. I agree, I wouldn’t get into a Waymo either
Rumor has it he’s still in the Waymo…..
#WAYMOProblems 🤖🚖❌
This is exactly the issue I encountered
A 5 minute trip took ..... 1 hour 25 minutes
Because the #Waymo went in the wrong direction
and ..... just kept going.
And the #Waymo customer service kept hanging up.
NOT COOL @SFMayorsOffice#SanFrancisco Treat 👎

#WAYMO Problems
Closest distance between to points for a #Waymo
is A to b to C to D to E to F to G to H to I to J
I had a 5 minute trip turn into 1 hour and 25 minute trip with customer service called again and again and they just kept hanging up

🚨#BREAKING: Numerous Residents are furious after dozens of empty Waymo autonomous vehicles reportedly flooded an Atlanta neighborhood, circling a cul-de-sac for hours without passengers and causing major frustration among locals.

🚨 WAYMO ADMITS USING REMOTE OPERATORS IN THE PHILIPPINES FOR U.S. VEHICLES - TESLA SAYS “NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN ABLE TO TAKE OVER CONTROL OF OUR VEHICLES.”
During a U.S. Senate hearing, Waymo confirmed that human operators located in the Philippines can remotely intervene when its vehicles encounter problems on American roads.
That means in certain situations, a split-second driving decision isn’t being made by the car - it’s being influenced by a human thousands of miles away.
Senators openly warned about cybersecurity risks, delayed reaction times, and the implications of foreign operators interacting with vehicles moving through U.S. cities in real time.
Then Tesla testified.
Tesla stated its driving controls are physically isolated, cannot be accessed remotely, firmware updates require dual cryptographic approval, and that no hacker has ever taken control of a Tesla vehicle - despite years of paid hacking attempts.
Same hearing.
Same risks.
Two radically different systems.
Why does an “autonomous” car need a human in another country anywhere near the decision chain?
Waymo is being marketed as a “Green environmentally friendly” because they are “all-electric, zero-emission vehicles”
But take a look at this, the entire fleet here in Austin Texas is being charged with Diesel generators…. Just another scam
Here’s something even more crazy, I looked it up and found that charging electric vehicles like this with diesel generators is actually WORSE for the environment than if you were to just buy and drive a gas powered vehicle
So this means not only is it a scam, but it’s worse for the environment than just driving a normal car
NEW: Phoenix police officer pulls over a driverless Waymo car for driving on the wrong side of the road leading the nonexistent driver to roll the windows down to speak with the police.
This is hilarious.
Waymo has since released a statement, apparently blaming the incident on "inconsistent construction signage."
The car "was blocked from navigating back into the correct lane" for about 30 seconds when the officer pulled it over.
"In an effort to clear the intersection, the Waymo vehicle proceeded forward a short distance and pulled into the next available parking lot," the company said.
This is the sad state of news these days. Today, a Waymo car crashed into another Waymo, but the media hasn't covered it at all. I've seen no articles. If this were two @Tesla Robotaxis, it would be all over the news. Negative headlines against Tesla generate clicks. Ones about Waymo don’t as much, so most of the media doesn’t bother to write about it.
Is this crash the end of the world? Absolutely not. But the media would certainly paint it that way if it were Tesla Robotaxis.
Nonetheless, the work toward a safer driverless future presses on.
Here's my first Waymo ride in Nashville last night.
It started off well, but the vehicle got confused and stuck 4 minutes in. After about 10 minutes of trying, rider support got it moving again, but then it couldn't continue, so they had to escalate to another specialist. After another ~10 minutes, they said the Waymo could not complete the trip, and that I should call an Uber or Lyft ride to reach my destination. I was 3-4 minutes from my destination when the Waymo initially got stuck. The vehicle was on call with support for about 20 minutes in total.
While it would have been nice to reach my destination lol, I'm honestly not mad about it because it was interesting to see the whole process of them trying to get it going again and how Waymo support deals with situations like this (which are pretty rare). The support team was really nice and communicative.
Have to fly back home to New England tomorrow, but hopefully will try another robotaxi ride in Nashville in the future, and of course other cities.
NEW: 50 empty Waymos invade Atlanta neighborhoods and circle their cul-de-sacs for hours early in the mornings.
Residents say they are getting waymo traffic than usual and have tried combating the cars with a neon green sign, which only made the problem worse.
The Waymos didn't know what to do and clogged the entire street.
"We have small animals and pets, got kids getting on the bus in the morning, and it just doesn’t feel safe to have that traffic," one resident said.
The residents say Waymo has not given them a response yet.
Waymo drives into a flooded road during a service, which results in the passenger getting stuck.
Yikes. Maybe a little more LiDAR would’ve prevented this.
Waymo says there were no passengers onboard a self-driving car that was seen stopped between train tracks and a crossing gate at a railroad crossing in Austin, Texas, as a train went past. https://t.co/sHvjNlIudg
