Answer: Every ceasefire in the conflict with Iran has had one thing in common—it did not last.

Attacks on Iran resumed. Thirteen straight nights of strikes resumed in July after the previous ceasefire collapsed.

Then, new fronts opened—Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil facilities, and a new declared U.S. naval blockade followed.

Saudi Arabia is now bracing for coordinated attacks on its own energy infrastructure.
For the United States, the worst is NOT behind us. We are just between rounds.

Meanwhile, the rest of the world is moving forward. The defense pact signed in Mecca isn't noise. It is the sound of the old regional order rearranging itself in real time.

The new Turkey-Saudi-Pakistan Defense Pact is crafted to halt the Greater Israel Project and (given US inability to indemnify GCC security) replace US Military presence.

For the United States and its strategic partners, the crisis of American global power has begun.

The United States and for that matter no nation-state should depend on any single foreign supplier, friendly or hostile. The non-Western world is more capable today to resolve the situation in the Gulf than we are.
