Portugal doing the Mannequin Challenge in 2016. 🇵🇹
Just look at Ronaldo, man 😭
There were some immaculate vibes in this national team before the Bruno Fernandes virus.
This isn’t Carrick ball. These are players passing and moving that have been coached to do so for a year plus by Amorim.
I know this passing and movement very well. I saw it in sporting, I see it in Milan.
English coaches like Carrick don’t coach movement like this.
One of the biggest takeaways from Salzburg was how clearly Amorim showed that the ideas and identity remain intact, regardless of who plays.
That’s what you look for in a long-term project: a system that works beyond individuals. Add better players, raise the ceiling.
You think Cristiano Ronaldo has ego right?
Again, I am telling you he is learning
Come and read this
Luis Enrique was appointed by AS Roma in 2011 on a two year deal
In a Europa League qualifier, which was his first official game, Enrique benched team captain, Francesco Totti
Totti was 34 years, Enrique wanted energy in his team and didn't see the captain fitting in
Roma lost the game by a lone goal
In the second leg, Enrique started Totti but substituted him in the game and Roma was eliminated
The first person that spoke after that was former Roma director Walter Sabatini
He said by benching Totti, Enrique had essentially "dug his own grave" with the fans
Totti didn't hide his feelings at all towards Enrique
He wore a white t-shirt to training that had the word "Basta" which means "Enough" written on it
The Roman fanbase turned supported their captain and turned against their coach
Enrique was constantly booed during press conference and Roma home games at the Stadium Olimpico
The fans and the media accused Enrique for disrespecting Totti and wanting to use him as a scape goat to assert authority in the team
It was a crazy and tough moment for Enrique
In October, they eventually come to terms and ended the feud....
The season went on but the fans were never happy with Enrique for how he treated Totti
Despite saying positive things about Totti in the media, the fans were not having it
They verbally abused him and his family and with one game to go that season, Enrique resigned and left Roma
When I watch Carragher saying CR7 was trying to get Jorge Jesus sacked, I was just laughing 🤣
He didn't know what he was saying at all
He should come and read this Totti story
⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️
Do I support what Totti did? No
Should Enrique have communicated better? Yes
Was he trying to make a statement with Totti? Yes
Was that disrespectful? Yes
There are players and there are players
They many not be necessarily be bigger than the club but they are symbols
Such symbols are to be respected
That's LIFE
This is not arrogance. This is a fact so let check.
What does COMPLETE mean?
Complete does not mean most talented. Complete does not mean best dribbler. Complete means you can do EVERYTHING in football at an elite level. And only one player in history can.
Let's break it down:
Left foot? 150+ goals with his left. Messi can't say that about his right.
Right foot? 550+ goals. His main weapon.
Head? 150+ headed goals. The greatest header of the ball ever. Jumps 2.93m, hang time, power. Messi has 30 headed goals in his entire career. That's not complete.
Free kicks? 64 free kick goals. Long range curl, knuckleball.
Penalties? Clutch. Champions League finals, Euros.
Weak foot, strong foot, head, free kicks, long shots, tap-ins, overhead kicks. Cristiano has scored every type of goal. Bicycle kick vs Juventus, header vs Sampdoria, knuckleball vs Portsmouth, solo run vs Getafe.
Name me one type of goal Messi cannot score with his head? He can't. Name me one way Cristiano can't score? You can't.
Complete means complete everywhere.
Top scorer in England - where pace and power matter.
Top scorer in Spain - where technique matters.
Top scorer in Italy - where tactics and defence matter.
Top scorer in Champions League - 7 times.
Top scorer for his country - all-time international top scorer with 130+ goals.
He won league titles in 3 countries, Champions League with 2 clubs, Euros with Portugal, a team that never won anything before him.
What is incomplete about that?
Messi is complete in one system Barcelona, tiki-taka, short passes, 4-3-3, on the ground. Take him out of that system and put him in Stoke on a rainy night or against prime Serie A defenders, he disappears. We saw it at PSG - 32 goals in 75 games.
Cristiano is complete in ANY system. Counter-attack at United, possession at Real, defensive at Juventus, crossing at Portugal. He adapts, he scores.
He earned the right.
950+ career goals. 5 Ballon d'Ors. 5 Champions Leagues. Played 20+ years at the highest level. Never protected by a club. Built himself from Madeira streets to Manchester to Madrid to Turin to Saudi. No academy built for him, no Xavi and Iniesta feeding him for 15 years.
So when he looks in the camera and says "I am the most complete player ever" - he is not asking for your opinion. He is telling you what real ball knowers already knew since 2014.
You don't have to believe him.
You just have to know football.
🚨🗣️ 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Cristiano Ronaldo declares himself the MOST COMPLETE PLAYER IN FOOTBALL HISTORY!
“If someone prefers Messi, Pelé or Maradona, that’s a matter of personal taste. I RESPECT THAT.
“But to say Cristiano Ronaldo is NOT a complete player is a LIE.
“I AM THE MOST COMPLETE PLAYER.”
— @cnnportugal
People forget how cooked Casemiro was until Amorim came in.
The truth will come out. There’s a reason Amorim was smiling when he left.
It wasn’t arrogance. It was confidence. Fans backed Wilcox.
Hired Amorim at the wrong time. Sacked at the wrong time. Textbook incompetence.
🚨🎙️ - Michael Carrick on the lack of intensity:
"I don't think it was particularly that. It looks like that in the end and I understand why people say that.
"I think it can get like that quite quickly when you're not quite there and not quite at it, and credit to Tottenham."
