Here is the thing Richard! These are different offences entirely - with offenses being a questionable term.

Thomas wasn't charged for "stopping illegal immigration", he is charged with criminal damage and failing to comply with a RIPA notice, over an incident where he filmed himself slashing a boat in the Channel with an emergency responder on board.

That's not enforcement work; it's an act that could have hurt someone.

Intentions, (even though you think it is good), don't excuse the law.

Even if his motive was to deter crossings, damaging property and endangering a rescue worker is still a crime, regardless of the cause behind it.

That's not a double standard - it's how the law applies to everyone.

Illegal Channel crossings and criminal damage at sea are legally unrelated. Asylum seekers are rarely prosecuted for illegal entry partly because of Article 31 of the Refugee Convention, which protects people claiming asylum who present themselves promptly - a legal policy, not neglect.

Stacking "80,000 uncharged" against one specific charge implies hypocrisy that isn't really there.

The 80,000 figure needs scrutiny - it likely refers to irregular arrivals, not to people who've committed a provable, chargeable offence, which is the actual CPS test.

People's frustration with Channel crossings reflects a real and widely shared political concern about border enforcement. That's a legitimate debate - but separate from whether this particular charge is fair.

There is also the absolute fact that you and @Nigel_Farage are largely responsible for the problem.
