7. Telling Instead of Showing

Mistake: Over-explaining emotions or events instead of letting the reader experience them.

Fix: Instead of "She was nervous," show your character biting their lip, tapping their foot, or stuttering. Let actions and dialogue reveal emotions.

6. Bad Pacing

Mistake:

Either nothing happens for pages or everything happens in a paragraph.

Fix:
