Mentorship is a double edged sword. A great mentor increases retention and effectiveness of new employees.
A burned out mentor increases burnout and attrition rates of new employees.
If you are a leader of a company or organization, make a solid mentorship program the PRIORITY!
I just led an SEL training for a school in South Korea.
By the end of the presentation, teachers had created specific, relevant SEL lesson plans to implement on monday!
School leaders, hit me up if you want an effective SEL rollout that works!

Pay teachers more and you’ll still lose them. Too many tasks, too many expectations on our time, and good teachers can’t teach well.
Good ones won’t stay where we can’t be successful and flourish!

I’m convinced Twitter does not want me to sell a million copies and live my best life! 😂
Teachers learn this phrase!!
“How will I be compensated for the overtime work necessary to complete this task?”
Use it whenever needed when you are given more tasks than you have contractual time for.
Back to school teacher thoughts:
•I hope there isn’t a shooting at my school
•I hope a parent doesn’t get me fired over my curriculum
•I hope my benefits don’t get slashed further
•I hope a rent increase doesn’t bankrupt me
•Oh yeah, and I hope the kids learn something
Tip for retaining new teachers:
Try not giving them 3+ preps, overloaded classes, large caseloads of ESE and ELL students, limited planning time, and extra-curriculum involvements.
Just an idea... Idk, maybe a crazy thought?
